A.E. Karaiskakis Football Club ( el, Α.Ε. Καραϊσκάκης) is a Greek professional football club based in Arta, Greece. Founded in 2012, they compete in the Gamma Ethniki, the third tier of Greek football. Their home ground is Municipal Agioi Anargiroi Stadium. History Foundation and first years The club was established in 2012, after the merger of AO Arta, Aetos Diasello and Omonoia Petra, and is currently competing in the 2nd tier of Greek football, the Super League Greece 2. In the 2014–15 Football League 2, despite leading the table for a big part of the season, and having the best attacking and defensive record of the group, scoring 60 and conceding just 14, Karaiskakis lost to AO Trikala on the last matchday with a score of 1–2, a result that led to the club missing out on promotion to Beta Ethniki. 2015–16 season The 2015–16 season for Karaiskakis started with an away victory of 1–2 at Farkadona. Georgios Karaiskakis ( el, Γεώργιος Καραϊσκάκης), born Georgios Karaiskos ( el, Γεώργιος Καραΐσκος; 1782 – 1827), was a famous Greek military commander and a leader of the Greek War of Independence. The 2013–14 Gamma Ethniki was the 31st season since the official establishment of the third tier of Greek football in 1983. It was scheduled to start on 22 September 2013. 93 teams were separated into six groups, according to geographical criteria. The 2017–18 Football League is the second division of the Greek professional football league system and the seventh season under the name Football League after previously being known as ''Beta Ethniki''. 2019–20 Super League Greece 2
The 2019–20 Super League 2 was the first season of the Super League 2, the second-tier Greek professional league for association football clubs, since restructuring of the Greek football league system. The exact system of conduct and how many teams will be promoted and how many will be relegated will be finalized in the summer when the final calls for professional bids are made public. It has been decided to hold Championship Round with the first 6 teams and Relegation Round with the last 6 teams of the regular season. The 2021–22 Super League 2, known as Super League 2 betsson for sponsorship reasons, is the third season of the Super League 2, the second-tier Greek professional league for association football clubs, since the restructuring of the Greek football league system.
