It gained independence in 1991 as one of the successor states of Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Yugoslavia. Assembly Of North Macedonia
The Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia ( mk, Собрание на Република Северна Македонија, sq, Kuvendi i Republikës së Maqedonisë së Veriut), or the Sobranie ( mk, Собрание, "Assembly"), is the unicameral representative body of the citizens of North Macedonia; it is North Macedonia's sole legislature. According to the Constitution, the Sobranie represents the people and is vested with legislative power. It can have between 120 and 140 MPs (currently 120), elected by proportional representation from 6 electoral districts, each contributing 20 MPs, and there are also 3 reserved seats elected from the Macedonian diaspora which are awarded only if the voter turnout was sufficient. Kiril "Kiro" Dojčinovski ( Macedonian: Kиpил Kиpo Дojчинoвcки; 17 October 1943 – 10 August 2022) was a Macedonian football player and manager who played as a defender. Ilinka Mitreva
Ilinka Mitreva (; 11 February 1950 – 1 August 2022) was a Macedonian politician, Minister of Foreign Affairs in 2001 and from 2002 to 2006. Personal life Mitreva was born in Skopje in 1950. Her education after graduating from the Faculty of Philology in Skopje, a group of Romanian philology in 1973, she received her master's degree from the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade and then received her Doctorate from the Faculty of Philology in Skopje. From 1974 to 2001 she worked as a junior assistant, associate professor and head of the Department of Romanian Languages and Literature at the Faculty of Philology in Skopje. Mitreva was professor of French literature at the Department of Romanian Languages and Literature from 23 November 2001 to 31 October 2002. Omer Kaleshi (1932 – 17 April 2022) was a Macedonian painter of Albanian descent from Srbica, Kičevo, Srbica village, Kičevo of North Macedonia. Constitution Of North Macedonia
The Constitution of the Republic of North Macedonia is a codified constitution outlining North Macedonia's system of government and basic human rights. It was adopted in the Parliament of the then-Republic of Macedonia on 17 November 1991. In 2001 it was announced that the country had adopted amendments to its Constitution which enshrined 15 basic amendments and has granted rights to the country's ethnic Albanian population, as part of the Ohrid Agreement. Skopje

2022 North Macedonia Protests
In early July 2022, protests began in Skopje, North Macedonia. The protests were triggered by Bulgaria–North Macedonia negotiations surrounding the accession of the latter into the European Union. Background North Macedonia has been a candidate to join the European Union (EU) since 2005. The use of the country name "Macedonia" was the object of a dispute with neighbouring Greece between 1991 and 2019, resulting in a Greek veto against EU and NATO accession talks, which lasted from 2008 to 2019.
