2022 Cetinje Shooting
On 12 August 2022, a spree shooting occurred in Cetinje, Montenegro. Ten people were killed, including two children, and six others were wounded. The gunman, identified as 33-year-old Vučko Borilović, was shot and killed after engaging in a gun battle with police officers. It is the deadliest shooting in Montenegro since the 1944 Cetinje massacre. Shooting At about 3:30 p.m. on 12 August 2022, Borilović entered his home in the Medovina neighbourhood of Cetinje, where he engaged in an argument with the family that were sub-tenants. He fatally shot three family members, including two children, with a hunting carbine. Borilović proceeded to call their father, who was not present at the time, to inform him that he had killed his wife and children. Branislav Šoškić ( cyrl, Бранислав Шошкић, 19 November 1922 – 4 April 2022) was a Montenegrin politician who served as the President of the Socialist Republic of Montenegro's Presidency from 1985 to 1986. Cetinje
Cetinje (, ) is a town in Montenegro. It is the former royal capital (''prijestonica'' / приjестоница) of Montenegro and is the location of several national institutions, including the official residence of the president of Montenegro. According to the 2011 census, the town had a population of 14,093 while the Cetinje Municipality had 16,657 residents . Cetinje is the centre of Cetinje Municipality. The city rests on a small karst plain surrounded by limestone mountains, including Mount Lovćen, the legendary mountain in Montenegrin historiography.
