2022 ELF Season
The 2022 ELF season is the second season of the European League of Football, a professional American football league based in Europe. Twelve teams from five different countries will participate. The 2022 season started on June 4, 2022, and will conclude with the Championship Game on September 25, 2022 at the Wörthersee Stadion, Klagenfurt. Format The league is divided into three conferences, North, Central and South. Each team plays 12 games during the regular season: twice against their conference rivals, and twice against three of the teams from the other conferences. The top team in each conference, as well as the best second-place team, qualify for the playoffs. Teams On top of the eight inaugural season teams, the league expanded with four new franchises. Wörthersee Stadion
Wörthersee Stadion (), known as 28 Black Arena for sponsorship reasons, is a multi-purpose stadium located in Klagenfurt, Austria. It is the home ground of Austria Klagenfurt. The stadium is situated within the Sportpark Klagenfurt campus of several other sports venues. Its name refers to the nearby Wörthersee lake. Overview The first Wörtherseestadion was built in 1960 as the home ground of the old SK Austria Klagenfurt (the later defunct FC Kärnten), a track and field stadium with a capacity of 10,900. In 1962 the team was first promoted to the Austrian Football Bundesliga (then called ''A-Liga'') and until their final relegation in 1989 regularly attracted thousands of spectators. The Berlin Thunder are an American football team in Berlin, Germany. They play in the European League of Football (ELF) northern conference. History On 22 March 2021, the Berlin Thunder were announced as one of the eight teams to play in the inaugural season of the European League of Football. Their first game was against the Leipzig Kings on 20 June 2021. After the 2021 season the contract of head coach Jag Bal wasn't extended. On September 12, 2021 it was announced that former NFL 1st-round draft pick Björn Werner became co-owner and director of football operations of the franchise. Charles "Yogi" Jones is a former American football linebacker who played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at University of Pittsburgh. For the 2022 European League of Football season he is the new head coach of the Hamburg Sea Devils.
