After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, FIVB banned all Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials from participating at the championships. Eduarda Santos Lisboa
Eduarda "Duda" Santos Lisboa (born 1 August 1998) is a Brazilian beach volleyball player. She is the two-time U21 World champion (2016, 2017) and three-time U19 World champion (2013, 2014, 2016). She has won four World Tour events and reached thirteen podiums in the World Tour throughout her career. She was voted the FIVB Top Rookie in 2016. She was also a gold medalist at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics. Duda plays as a right-side defender. Volleyball In Rome
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. The receiving team must not let the ball be grounded within their court. Beach Volleyball World Championships
The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships is the double-gender world championship for the sport of beach volleyball organized by the ' ( FIVB) the sport's global governing body. The first official edition of the event was held in Los Angeles, United States in 1997 and tournaments had been awarded every two years since then. Before 1997, ten unofficial championships not organized by the FIVB were all held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil between 1987 and 1996. The most recent World Championships took place in Rome, Italy in 2022 Winning the World Championships is considered to be one of the highest honours in international beach volleyball, surpassing the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour and being surpassed only by the Beach Volleyball tournament at the Summer Olympic Games. Brandie Wilkerson (born July 1, 1992) is a Canadian beach volleyball player who plays as a right-side blocker. With teammate Heather Bansley, she achieved a career-high world ranking of No. 1 in November 2018. She is the 2018 FIVB Best Blocker. She has also competed on the AVP.
