The president of Montenegro ( cnr, Предсједник Црне Горе, Predsjednik Crne Gore) is the head of state of Montenegro. The current president is Milo Đukanović, who was elected in the first round of the 2018 presidential election with 53.90% of the vote. Milo Đukanović ( cnr, Мило Ђукановић, ; born 15 February 1962) is a Montenegrin politician serving as the President of Montenegro since 2018, previously serving in the role from 1998 to 2003. He also served as the Prime Minister of Montenegro (1991–1998, 2003–2006, 2008–2010 and 2012–2016) and is the long-term president of the Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro, originally the Montenegrin branch of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia, which governed Montenegro alone or in a coalition from the introduction of multi-party politics in the early 1990s until its defeat in the 2020 parliamentary election. Zdravko Krivokapić ( cyrl, Здравко Кривокапић; born 2 September 1958) is a Montenegrin professor and politician who served as Prime Minister of Montenegro from 2020 to 2022. In addition to his professorship at the Universities of Montenegro and East Sarajevo, he is one of the founders of the non-governmental organization called " We won't give up Montenegro", which was founded by Montenegrin professors and intellectuals in support of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro after a controversial religion law targeted the legal status and the property of the Church. COVID-19 Pandemic In Montenegro
The COVID-19 pandemic in Montenegro has resulted in confirmed cases of COVID-19 and deaths. The first case of the disease in Montenegro was confirmed on 17 March 2020, making it the last European country to register a case of SARS-CoV-2. On 24 May 2020, 68 days after the first case was recorded in Montenegro, it became the first COVID-19-free country in Europe. Within the first outbreak, indexed cases counted 9% of the total reported, 80% of cases were infected due to contact with primary cases, while the origin of infection of the other 11% of cases was not certain. The Government of Montenegro estimated that the country needs EUR 59.2 million private and international relief to address the health, social and economical impact of COVID-19. 2021 Montenegrin Municipal Elections
Local elections were held on 14 March 2021 in Nikšić Municipality, on 9 May 2021 in Herceg Novi Municipality, while the elections in the municipalities of Cetinje, Mojkovac and Petnjica were held on 5 December 2021. Elections resulted in won for local-level opposition parties in 3 out of 5 municipalities. Large coalition consisting of the former ZBCG (led by DF), MNN (led by DCG) and CnB (led by URA) formed local government in Nikšić and Mojkovac municipalities, while SDP and the independent list "Old Guard of the LSCG" rise in Cetinje Old Royal Capital. The DPS keep governing in Petnjica, in coalition with SD and BS, while the DCG keep its mayoral post in Herceg Novi, in coalition with the local DF and URA. Cetinje
Cetinje (, ) is a town in Montenegro. It is the former royal capital (''prijestonica'' / приjестоница) of Montenegro and is the location of several national institutions, including the official residence of the president of Montenegro. According to the 2011 census, the town had a population of 14,093 while the Cetinje Municipality had 16,657 residents . Cetinje is the centre of Cetinje Municipality. The city rests on a small karst plain surrounded by limestone mountains, including Mount Lovćen, the legendary mountain in Montenegrin historiography. Jevrem Brković (; 29 December 1933 – 24 January 2021) was a Montenegrin poet, writer, journalist, dissident and historian. Brković was one of the founders and member of Doclean Academy of Sciences and Arts (DANU), a parallel scholars' academy in Montenegro, disputed by the national Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts (CANU), parallel academy dissolved in 2015 with its membership, including Brković rejoined CANU. Biography He was born in the Seoca village near Podgorica, Zeta Banate, Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Brković worked as a journalist at the Radio Titograd and was a deputy editor of the magazine "Ovdje".
