2020 Ohio Elections
The 2020 Ohio general elections were held on November 3, 2020 throughout the US state of Ohio. The office of the Ohio Secretary of State oversees the election process, including voting and vote counting. To vote by mail, registered Ohio voters must have requested a ballot by October 31, 2020. As of early October some 2,112,685 voters have requested mail ballots. Federal offices President Senate There is no U.S. Senate election in Ohio in 2020. House of Representatives All of Ohio's 16 seats in the United States House of Representatives were up for election in 2020. State offices Board of education General Assembly Senate The 16 even-numbered districts out of 33 seats in the Ohio Senate are up for election in 2020. Fourteen of these seats are held by Republicans and two are held by Democrats. Prior to the election, Republicans hold 24 seats and Democrats hold 9 seats. 2022 Ohio Elections
The 2022 Ohio general elections took place on November 8, 2022, throughout the US state of Ohio. Federal Senate Incumbent Republican Senator Rob Portman announced he was retiring. John Eklund (Ohio Politician)
John J. Eklund is a former Republican Party (United States), Republican member of the Ohio Senate for the 18th district. He was appointed in November 2011 to replace Tim Grendell, who was appointed as a judge in Geauga County, Ohio, Geauga County. The selection committee considered thirteen candidates for the appointment. He is the Chairman of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee. Eklund then went on to win the 2012 election for a full-term, winning with 54.7% of the vote. His district includes all of Portage County, Ohio, Portage County along with half of Lake County, Ohio, Lake County and most of Geauga County. Terry Johnson (Ohio Politician)
Terry Johnson (born June 4, 1956) is an American politician serving as a member of the Ohio Senate from the 14th District. He is an osteopathic physician who was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives for the 90th district from 2011 to 2018. He was unopposed in the primary and faced Democrat construction worker Ron Hadsell in the general election. Johnson won with 58.38% of the vote. In 2012, he carried 64.07% of the vote as he was easily re-elected to a second term over Portsmouth City Council President John Haas. Ohio's 14th senatorial district has historically stretched across the Ohio River east of Cincinnati in southern Ohio.
