Esports (), short for electronic sports, is a form of competition using video games. Esports often takes the form of organized, multiplayer video game competitions, particularly between professional players, played individually or as teams. Multiplayer competitions were long a part of video game culture, but were largely between amateurs until the late 2000s when the advent of online streaming media platforms, particularly YouTube and Twitch (service), Twitch, enabled a surge in participation by professional gamers and spectators. Evo Japan 2018
The 2018 Japanese Evolution Championship Series, commonly referred to as Evo Japan 2018, was a fighting game event held in Tokyo, Japan on January 26–28. As mentioned in its namesake, the event was the first Evo event to take place in Japan and outside of the United States. The event offered tournaments for various fighting games, such as ''Street Fighter V'', ''Tekken 7'', and '' Super Smash Bros. for Wii U''. Over 5,000 people registered for the event with ''Street Fighter V'' and ''Tekken 7s entrant numbers being on par with their respective Evo 2017 numbers. Venue Evo Japan 2018 was the first event in the Evolution Championship Series to take place outside of its usual Las Vegas. Instead it took place in the Japanese city of Tokyo. The first two days of the event took place at Sunshine City while the third day took place at Akiba Square. Mouz (stylized as MOUZ), formerly mousesports, is a professional esports organisation based in Germany. It fields teams in several games but is particularly known for its '' CS2'' team. Six Invitational (SI) is an annual world championship tournament for the five-on-five esports video game ''Rainbow Six Siege''. Produced by the game's developer Ubisoft, Six Invitational is the final event of the competitive ''Siege'' season and consists of 20 teams, 16 based on the final results from the Season Global Standings and four from Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia Pacific regional qualifiers.
