Sacred Heart Pioneers
The Sacred Heart Pioneers are the 32 sports teams (14 men, 18 women) representing Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut in intercollegiate athletics. The Pioneers compete in the NCAA Division I and are members of the Northeast Conference (the school's primary conference), Atlantic Hockey, Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association, and New England Women's Hockey Alliance. History Nearly 800 students participate in the university's 31 athletic teams (17 female teams and 14 male teams) along with more than 500 students who participate in 23 Club Sports. Lenka Serdar
Lenka Slezak Serdar (born 21 July 1997) is a Czech-American ice hockey player and member of the Czech national team, currently signed with the Connecticut Whale of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) for the 2022–23 season. Serdar represented the Czech Republic at the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship and in the women's ice hockey tournament at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Playing career Serdar grew up playing ice hockey in and around her home town of Lexington, Massachusetts in the Greater Boston area. Marlène Boissonnault (born June 19, 1997) is a Canadian ice hockey goaltender, currently playing for PWHL Montreal of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). Playing career Boissonnault started playing hockey at a young age, moving up the minor hockey system. She would then play for Rothesay Netherwood School in Rothesay, New Brunswick, Rothesay and later took the chance to play for Cornell University. Mallory Souliotis (born April 1, 1996) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman, currently playing in the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) with the Connecticut Whale. Career Early career During high school, Souliotis played for the Noble and Greenough School, being named to the NEPSAC Division 1 Second All-Star Team in 2014. From 2014 to 2018, she attended Yale University, putting up 70 points in 117 NCAA games. She picked up 9 points in 26 games in her rookie collegiate season, being named her team's most improved player at the end of the year. Her production jumped up to 25 points in 29 games the following season, leading Yale in scoring and her 21 assists the third-highest single-season total in the university's history. Jaime Claire Bourbonnais (born September 9, 1998) is a Canadian women's ice hockey defender, currently playing for the Montréal section of the PWHPA. She made her debut for the Canada women's national ice hockey team at the 2018 4 Nations Cup. Playing career Participated with Team Ontario at the 2015 Canada Winter Games, in Prince George, British Columbia Participated in The National Women's Under-18 Championship winning Gold, where she was named the top defenseman. Carly Elizabeth Bullock (born April 4, 1998) is an American professional ice hockey forward, currently playing with KMH Budapest in the European Women's Hockey League (EWHL). She currently holds the record as the highest scoring Princeton University player of the 21st century. Playing career Bullock attended The Blake School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she was a five season member of the school's girls' ice hockey team, winning three state championships. During her first two seasons, she played alongside future Olympian Dani Cameranesi and in her senior season she served as team captain and was named a finalist for the 2016 Minnesota Ms. Hockey Award. Kristin O'Neill (born March 30, 1998) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player for PWHL Montreal of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). She made her debut for the Canada women's national ice hockey team at the 2018 4 Nations Cup. Playing career In 2013, O'Neill participated with Team Ontario Blue at the 2013 Canadian Under-18 Women’s Nationals, securing a silver medal. O'Neill was named to the Ontario team, which captured the silver medal in women's ice hockey at the 2015 Canada Winter Games. Mercyhurst Lakers Women's Ice Hockey
The Mercyhurst Lakers women's ice hockey team is a college ice hockey program representing Mercyhurst University in NCAA Division I competition as a member of the College Hockey America (CHA) conference. They play in Erie, Pennsylvania at the Mercyhurst Ice Center, located on the Mercyhurst campus. The program was started in 1999 and Michael Sisti has been its only coach. From 2000 to 2002, the Lakers were part of the Great Lakes Women's Hockey Association (GLWHA). While in the Great Lakes Women's Hockey Association, the Lakers qualified for the GLWHA tournament twice – in 2001, and 2002. Maine Black Bears Women's Ice Hockey
The Maine Black Bears women’s ice hockey team represents the University of Maine. The team plays their home games in Alfond Arena. The team's first year of play was in 1997–98. The Black Bears finished 6th in the 2019-2020 season, advancing to the semi-finals of the Hockey East tournament, before losing to the eventual champions Northeastern Huskies by a score of 1-3. The 2020 Hockey East women's ice hockey tournament was cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak, but Maine would not have qualified even if the tournament had been played.
