2017 World Weightlifting Championships
The 2017 World Weightlifting Championships were held in Anaheim, California, United States from 28 November to 5 December 2017. Doping bans Nine countries were banned from competing at the World Championships due to their history of doping at previous Olympic Games, under International Weightlifting Federation rules stating that any country that had three positive tests uncovered by the International Olympic Committee during re-testing of stored urine samples for banned substances from the 2008 and 2012 Olympics would be banned. The banned countries were: Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Turkey, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus and Azerbaijan. Boycott North Korea and Venezuela boycotted the World Championships due to the crises in relations between the United States and these countries. Francisco Antonio Mosquera Valencia (born 1 April 1992) is a Colombian weightlifter, World Champion, three-time Pan American Champion and Pan American Games Champion competing in the 62 kg category until 2018 and 61 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories. Career Injury before Olympics In 2016 he tore his Patellar tendon in his left knee 10 days before the beginning of the 2016 Summer Olympics and was unable to compete. Adkhamjon Ergashev (born 12 March 1999) is an Uzbekistani weightlifter competing in the 62 kg category until 2018, and the 61 kg and 67 kg categories starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories. Career He competed at the 2014 and 2015 World Weightlifting Championships, and won bronze medals at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics and 2018 Asian games.
