2016–17 Oberliga
The 2016–17 season of the Oberliga was the ninth season of the Oberligas at tier five of the German football league system and the 43nd season overall since reintroduction of the Oberligas in 1974. The Oberliga is organised in fourteen regional divisions with the league champions promoted to the level above, the Regionalligas while the relegated teams drop down to the Verbandsligas and Landesligas. Overview In the 2016–17 season 241 clubs competed in the Oberligas. Nine of the league champions earned direct promotion to the Regionalligas, SC Freiburg II, VfB Eichstätt, SSV Jeddeloh, FC Wegberg-Beeck, VSG Altglienicke, BSG Chemie Leipzig, KFC Uerdingen, TSV Schott Mainz and TuS Erndtebrück, while the Oberliga Westfalen runners-up, Westfalia Rhynern, Bayernliga Süd runners-up, FC Unterföhring and Hessenliga runners-up, Eintracht Stadtallendorf were also directly promoted. 2015–16 Oberliga
The 2015–16 season of the Oberliga was the eighth season of the Oberligas at tier five of the German football league system and the 42nd season overall since reintroduction of the Oberligas in 1974. The regular season started on 17 July 2015 and finished on 12 June 2016. The Oberliga is organised in fourteen regional divisions with the league champions promoted to the level above, the Regionalligas while the relegated teams drop down to the Verbandsligas and Landesligas. Westfalia Rhynern
Westfalia Rhynern is a German association football club from the district of Rhynern in the city of Hamm, Westphalia. History The club was established in 1935 as ''Turn- und Sportverein Rhynern'', but disappeared after two years when, like many other clubs, it was caught up in the politically motivated sports policies of the Nazi regime. Following World War II, a group that included many of the club's pre-war membership reformed the club in 1946 as ''Sportverein Westfalia Rhynern''. The footballers advanced to the Verbandsliga Westfalen (V) in 1997 and two years later narrowly missed promotion to the Oberliga Westfalen (IV) when they finished just two points behind champions '' SC Herford''. The association was founded on 11 November 1901 as FV Amicitia 1901 Bockenheim in what is today the city district of Bockenheim. FSV 08 Bissingen
FSV 08 Bissingen is a German association football club from the town of Bietigheim-Bissingen, Baden-Württemberg. The club plays in the tier five Oberliga Baden-Württemberg. History The club was formed in 1908 as Fußballclub Viktoria Bissingen. In 1919 the club merged with Sportvereinigung Bissingen but the new club was outlawed by the Nazis in 1934. The football department joined TV Bissingen after that but the latter was dissolved during the Second World War. SV Röchling Völklingen is a German association football club that plays in Völklingen, part of the greater Saarbrücken, Saarland. The club draws its name from the Röchling family, owners of the Völklingen Ironworks steel factory, a former sponsor of the club which closed down in 1986. Eutin () is the district capital of Eastern Holstein county located in the northern German state of Schleswig-Holstein. As of 2020, the town had some 17,000 inhabitants. SC Hessen Dreieich is a German association football club from the town of Dreieich, Hesse. The club's greatest success has been promotion to the fourth tier in 2018. History SC Hessen Dreieich was formed on 20 June 2013 to consolidate the local football clubs in the region after cuts in the community budged reduced the support for these by 20 percent. The new club had the support of Hans Nolte, owner of Hahn Air, who invested €2.5 million in a new stadium for the club.
