2015–16 Big 12 Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2015–16 Big 12 men's basketball season was the 20th season of basketball for the Big 12 Conference. Team practices began in October 2015, followed by the start of the regular season on November 13. Conference play began on January 2, 2016, and concluded on March 5. Kansas won their 12th straight Big 12 regular season championship by finishing 33–5 overall and 15–3 in conference play, two games ahead of second-place West Virginia. The 2016 Big 12 men's basketball tournament took place from March 9–12, 2016 at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. Kansas won the tournament for the 10th time in school history. Buddy Hield of Oklahoma was named Big 12 Player of the Year for the second consecutive year, and became just the third player in conference history to be named the National college player of the year. Big 12 Conference Men's Basketball Player Of The Year
The Big 12 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year is a basketball award given to the Big 12 Conference's most outstanding player. The award was first given following the 1996–97 season, the first year of conference competition but three years after the conference's official formation. It is selected by the league's head coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their own players. Kansas has had the most winners of the award with ten. Only two players have won the award multiple times, Raef LaFrentz of Kansas, who won the first two awards in 1997 and 1998, and Buddy Hield of Oklahoma, who won the award in 2015 and 2016. Four freshmen have won the award as well, Kevin Durant of Texas, Michael Beasley of Kansas State and Marcus Smart and Cade Cunningham of Oklahoma State. Carlton Bragg
Carlton Edward Bragg Jr. (born December 14, 1995) is an American professional basketball player for the Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). He played college basketball for the New Mexico Lobos and the Kansas Jayhawks. Early life and high school career Bragg was born in Cleveland and was raised in the neighborhood of Wade Park. Growing up, four of his friends were murdered. He often spent time at the gym and roller skating to escape violence in his hometown. 2015 McDonald's All-American Boys Game
The 2015 McDonald's All-American Boys Game is an All-star basketball game that was played on April 1, 2015, at the United Center in Chicago, home of the Chicago Bulls. It was the 38th annual McDonald's All-American Game for high school boys. The game's rosters features the best and most highly recruited blue chip boys high school basketball players graduating in 2015. Cheick Diallo (born September 13, 1996) is a Malian professional basketball player for the Kyoto Hannaryz of the B.League. Diallo was a five-star recruit and the MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the 2015 McDonald's All-American Boys Game. He played one season of college basketball for Kansas before declaring for the 2016 NBA draft, where he was selected with the 33rd overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers. Deonte DeAngelo Burton (born January 31, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for the Stockton Kings of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Marquette Golden Eagles and the Iowa State Cyclones. Early life and high school career Deonte was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Charles Burton and the late Barbara Malone. He has five brothers, Demario Burton, Omar Burton, Charles Grafton, Prentiss Grafton and Keylow Rogers and one sister Nicole Grafton. After his freshman year at Harold S. Ricardo Darnell Gathers (born January 7, 1994) is an American rapper and former American football tight end. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round (217th overall) in the 2016 NFL Draft. He played college basketball at Baylor University and did not play college football. Georges Niang (born June 17, 1993), nicknamed "The Minivan", is a Senegalese-American professional basketball player for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was an All-American college player for Iowa State University. Perry Michael Ellis (born September 14, 1993) is an American professional basketball player for Cholet Basket of the French LNB Pro A. Ellis played college basketball for the Kansas Jayhawks. Isaiah Shaquille Taylor (born July 11, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for Žalgiris Kaunas of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) and the EuroLeague. 2015–16 Villanova Wildcats Men's Basketball Team
The 2015–16 Villanova Wildcats men's basketball team represented Villanova University in the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Led by the school's 8th head coach Jay Wright in his 15th year, the Wildcats were members of the Big East Conference and played most of their home games at The Pavilion, with some select home games at the Wells Fargo Center.
