Carl Johan Bernadotte
Carl Johan Arthur, Prince Bernadotte, Count of Wisborg, (31 October 1916 – 5 May 2012) was the fourth son and fifth and youngest child of King Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden and his first wife, Princess Margaret of Connaught. Bernadotte was born a Prince of Sweden and granted the title of Duke of Dalarna but renounced these titles to marry a commoner. He was the uncle of two reigning monarchs, Margrethe II of Denmark and Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, as well as one queen consort, Queen Anne-Marie of Greece. He was also the last surviving great-grandchild of Queen Victoria and her husband, Albert, Prince Consort, Prince Albert. Early life Bernadotte was born on 31 October 1916 on Stockholm Palace as the youngest surviving child of Gustaf VI Adolf, Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf of Sweden and Princess Margaret of Connaught. Lars Hörmander
Lars Valter Hörmander (24 January 1931 – 25 November 2012) was a Swedish mathematician who has been called "the foremost contributor to the modern theory of linear partial differential equations". Hörmander was awarded the Fields Medal in 1962 and the Wolf Prize in 1988. In 2006 he was awarded the Steele Prize for Mathematical Exposition for his four-volume textbook ''Analysis of Linear Partial Differential Operators'', which is considered a foundational work on the subject. Hörmander completed his Ph.D. in 1955 at Lund University. Hörmander then worked at Stockholm University, at Stanford University, and at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey. He returned to Lund University as a professor from 1968 until 1996, when he retired with the title of professor emeritus. Hans Hammarskiöld
Hans Arvid Hammarskiöld (17 May 1925 – 12 November 2012) was a Swedish professional photographer. He was active in most genres—for many years he worked as an industrial photographer, but was especially noted for his portraits. Career Hammarskiöld was born in 1925 in Stockholm. His breakthrough as a professional photographer came in the 1950s when he worked all over the world. In 1955 his work, along with that of his wife Caroline Hebbe, was selected by Edward Steichen for the world-touring Museum of Modern Art exhibition and book The Family of Man, seen by 9 million visitors. Hammarskiöld worked 1954-1956 for British ''Vogue (magazine), Vogue''. Sixten Jernberg
Edy Sixten Jernberg, known as "Sixten", (6 February 1929 – 14 July 2012) was a Swedish cross-country skier and one of the most successful cross-country skiers of all time. Between 1952 and 1964 he took part in 363 ski races, finishing within the podium in 263 and winning 134 of them; during this period he won four world titles and nine Olympic medals. Hans Villius
(10 July 192322 June 2012) was a Swedish historian and popular TV and radio personality. Villius received his doctorate in history in 1951 with his dissertation ''Karl XII:s ryska fälttåg: Källstudier'' (" Charles XII's Russian campaign: A Source Study.") in which he critically analysed the narrative sources of Charles XII's officers during the campaign. In 1957 Villius joined Swedish Radiotjänst (now Sveriges Radio), Sweden's national public radio corporation, and began making popular historical documentaries and programming until he moved to Sveriges Television (SVT) in 1966. It was at SVT that Villius began working with TV-producer Olle Häger, a very productive collaboration that would span some two decades. Peter Åslin
Peter Karl Åslin (21 September 1962 – 19 January 2012) was a Swedish national team ice hockey goaltender. Åslin started his international career by winning the IIHF World U20 Championship in 1981, which was Sweden's lone world junior gold for 31 years until the win in Calgary in 2012. Åslin won three Swedish championships; two with AIK of Stockholm in 1982 and 1984, and one with HV71 of Jönköping in 1995. He medalled in each of the four men's World Championships he participated in: gold medal in 1992 in Prague and three silver medals; in 1986, 1990 and 1993. Åslin won an Olympic bronze medal in Calgary in 1988. Åslin played 91 national team games for Sweden.
