2011 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships
The 2011 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships took place between 11 and 13 March 2011 at the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield, England. The World Championships were organised by the ISU which also runs world cups and championships in speed skating and figure skating. Schedule Results * First place is awarded 34 points, second is awarded 21 points, third is awarded 13 points, fourth is awarded 8 points, fifth is awarded 5 points, sixth is awarded 3 points, seventh is awarded 2 points, and eighth is awarded 1 point in the finals of each individual race to determine the overall world champion. The leader after the first 1000m in the 3000m Super-Final is awarded extra 5 points. The relays do not count for the overall classification. Sheffield Arena
Sheffield Arena, known for sponsorship purposes as Utilita Arena Sheffield, is a multi-purpose arena located in Sheffield, England. It is situated near Meadowhall and lies between Sheffield city centre and Rotherham town centre. Opened in 1991, it is used for concerts and sporting events, and is also home to the Sheffield Steelers ice hockey club. Attendance for all events at the venue has totalled around 14 million since its opening. It has a maximum capacity of 13,600. Paul Herrmann
Paul Herrmann (born November 16, 1985 in Dresden) is a German short-track speed-skater. Herrmann competed at the 2010 Winter Olympics for Germany. In the 1000 metres he placed third in his opening heat, and in the 1500 metres, he placed sixth in the opening round, both timesfailing to advance. As a member of the German 5000 metre relay team, he finished 3rd in the semifinal and 2nd in the B Final, ending up 5th overall. His best individual performance was in the 1000 metres, where he finished 22nd overall. As of 2013, Herrmann's best performance at the World Championships came in 2011, when he won a silver medal as a member of the German 5000m relay team. Li Jianrou
Li Jianrou (; ; born 15 August 1986 in Jilin City, Jilin Province) is a Chinese Short track Speed skater. She won a gold medal in the 500 m event of the 2014 Winter Olympics. She is the 2012 Overall World Champion. She represented China in the 2014 Winter Olympic's Ladies' 500 m event, 1000 m event and 1500 m event. Park Seung-hi
Park Seung-hi (; born 28 March 1992) is a former South Korean short track and long track speed skater. She is the 2010 Overall World Champion. She won two gold medals and three bronze medals at 2010 Winter Olympics and 2014 Winter Olympics. Her sister is Park Seung-ju, a long track speed skater, and her brother Park Se-yeong, a short track speed skater. She switched to long-track speed skating after the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Fan Kexin
Fan Kexin (; ; born 19 September 1993) is a Chinese short-track speed-skater. She has been on the Chinese national team since 2010. She won two silver medals in the 500 meters and 3000 meters relay at the 2010 ISU World Junior Championships. In 2011, she won her first gold medal at the World Championships on the 500 meters and another gold medal in the 3000 meters relay. She won a gold medal in the 3000 m relay event and a silver medal in the 500 m event in 2012. Arianna Fontana
Arianna Fontana OMRI (born 14 April 1990) is an Italian short track speed skater, who has won eleven Olympic medals among these two gold medals in the 500m short track, one at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and the second one at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Her medal haul following the 2022 Games made her the short track skater with the most Olympic medals. She is a two-time medalist (one silver, one bronze) in the Winter Olympics, 2011 overall world silver medalist and the 2010–2011 overall ISU Short Track Speed Skating World Cup champion. Anthony Lobello
Anthony J. Lobello Jr. (born August 15, 1984, in Tallahassee, Florida) is a retired short track speed skater, inline speed skater, and coach who competed for the United States at the 2006 Winter Olympics and for Italy at the 2014 Winter Olympics. He also competed in the US team's 2010 Olympics qualifying event, held in Marquette, Michigan in September 2009, although he was not selected for the team after being hampered by illness during the trials. Travis Jayner (born May 9, 1982 in Riverview, New Brunswick) is a Canadian-born American short track speed skater who is a member of the US Olympic Team for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia. Kyle Carr
Christopher Kyle Carr (born September 15, 1986) is an American short track speed skater who has qualified for the 2014 Winter Olympics. The son of a nationally ranked skater, Carr grew up roller skating. In 2001, he switched from inline speed skating to short track. While still in high school, he moved to Marquette, Michigan to further his training. Carr made the 2005 Junior World Championships, and the senior World Cup team for the 2005–06 season. He broke his ankle at the 2006 Junior World Team trials and missed the 2006 Olympic Trials. Following surgery and rehab, he returned to skating but found he had lost much of his speed.
