São Tomé and PrÃncipe (; pt, São Tomé e PrÃncipe (); English: " Saint Thomas and Prince"), officially the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and PrÃncipe ( pt, República Democrática de São Tomé e PrÃncipe), is a Portuguese-speaking island country in the Gulf of Guinea, off the western equatorial coast of Central Africa. Grupo Desportivo Sundy is a football club that is based in the section of Sundy/Sundi in the island of Principe in São Tomé and PrÃncipe. The team plays in the Principe Island League in its local division and plays at Estádio 13 de Julho in the island capital as every club on the island does, their main field is Campo de Sundi which is located in Sundi. Its nickname is Nigéria, Portuguese for Nigeria. History The team won their island title in 1989, and the tenth club to claim the first national title in 2010 and is their only one. Celestino Rocha da Costa (25 September 1938 – 23 December 2010) was a prime minister of São Tomé and PrÃncipe. He held the post from 8 January 1988 to 7 February 1991. He was the last head of a single party Movement for the Liberation of São Tomé and PrÃncipe (MLSTP) government. Biography He became member of the Movement of the Liberation of São Tomé (MLSTP) after independence in 1976 and was a single party at the time. He first worked for the Ministry of Justice. São Tomé and Principe Championship (Portuguese: ''Campeonato Nacional'') is the top division of the São Toméan Football Federation. In the current 2021/22 season there are 18 teams participating in two separate leagues - 12 teams from São Tomé Island, whose league has two relegation places, alongside 6 teams from PrÃncipe Island, which operates as a single division with no relegation. The championship is decided in a match between the São Tomé Island champions and the PrÃncipe Island champions. The champion heads to the qualifying round of the CAF Champions League each season, for some seasons, there were no participants. Independent Democratic Action
The Independent Democratic Action ( pt, Acção Democrática Independente) is a political party in São Tomé and PrÃncipe. It was established in 1994 by the then president Miguel Trovoada and is a politically centrist party. It took part in the 29 July 2001 presidential elections, in which its candidate, Fradique de Menezes, won 55.2% of the vote and was elected president. After the elections Fradique de Menezes joined a new party - the Force for Change Democratic Movement-Liberal Party. In the legislative election held on 3 March 2002, the Independent Democratic Action was the main party in the Uê Kédadji alliance, that won 16.2% of the popular vote and 8 out of 55 seats. It left this alliance and won in the 2006 election 11 out of 55 seats.
