Television In Spain
Television in Spain was introduced in 1956, when the national state-owned public service television broadcaster Televisión Española (TVE) started regular analog free-to-air terrestrial black and white broadcasts. Colour transmissions started in 1972 after two years of test transmissions, with all programming transmitted in color in 1977, and colour commercials starting in 1978. TVE held a monopoly on television broadcasting until regional public channels were launched during the 1980s and commercial television started nationwide in 1990. Digital terrestrial television was launched on 30 November 2005 with analog service discontinued on 3 April 2010. Currently, television is one of the leading mass media of the country, and by 2008 was in 99.7% of households in Spain according to INE statistics. La Sexta
La Sexta (; "The Sixth"; stylized as laSexta) is a Spanish free-to-air television channel. It is privately owned and was originally founded on 18 March 2001 as Beca TV that began broadcasting on 1 April 2001, that same year. By 21 July 2003, the channel ran into liquidation and was closed down, but two years later in 2005, it was replaced by a new channel called La Sexta that began test transmissions on 25 November 2005, and a year later, it started broadcasting officially on 27 March 2006. The channel's programming is generalist, however, there is an emphasis on humour and entertainment. The channel is also known for its large quantity of American and sports programming, and in the last years, it's becoming more and more acknowledged due to the wide covering of political events, such as elections, which include extensive debate through 3 key programmes: ''Al rojo vivo'' (''Red-hot''), ''El objetivo'' (''The lens'') and ''Salvados'' (''Saved''). ''ABC'' () is a Spanish national daily newspaper. It is the second largest general-interest newspaper in Spain, number one in Madrid, and the oldest newspaper still operating in Madrid. Along with '' El Mundo'' and ''El País'', it is one of Spain’s three newspapers of record. History and profile ''ABC'' was first published in Madrid on 1 January 1903 by Torcuato Luca de Tena y Álvarez-Ossorio. The founding publishing house was Prensa Española, which was led by the founder of the paper, Luca de Tena. The paper started as a weekly newspaper, turning daily in June 1905. In 1928 ABC had two editions, one for Madrid and the other for Seville. The latter was named ''ABC de Sevilla''. Elsa Pinilla
Elsa Pinilla Osuna (born October 2, 1985, in Madrid) is a Spanish singer-songwriter and actress. She is the first of three children of María Osuna and the record producer Pablo Pinilla. She has studied several performing arts, mainly ballet, piano playing, singing, and acting. From an early age, she has taken part in several TV advertisements and fashion shows. In 1999 she won the El Corte Inglés 'Photographic Model' contest. She's also appeared on album covers of some Spanish bands and featured in David DeMaría's music videos ''Sin miedo a perder'' and ''El perfume de la soledad''. In 2004, she was one of the hosts of the Spanish music TV program ''Musica Uno''. She was a founder, songwriter and member of the music group Tess, along with Úrsula Sebastián and Laura Pinto. As an actress, she began playing 'Elsa' in the successful Spanish TV series ''Al salir de clase'' (2000) along with the other members of Tess, which helped them promote their first album. Antena 3 is a Spanish terrestrial television channel part of Atresmedia Televisión, of which it is the flagship station. Its current headquarters are located in San Sebastián de los Reyes. Some of the most popular programmes broadcast by Antena 3 include ''Aquí no hay quien viva'', ''Física o Química'', '' El Barco'', '' Los Protegidos'', '' Los Simpson'' and '' El Internado''. Agencia EFE, S.A. () is a Spanish international news agency, the major multimedia news agency in Spanish language and the world's fourth largest wire service after the Associated Press, Reuters, and Agence France-Presse. EFE was created in 1939 by Ramón Serrano Súñer, then Francoist faction's Interior Minister. Agencia EFE is a news agency that covers all areas of information in the news media of the press, radio, television and Internet. European Commission
The European Commission (EC) is the executive of the European Union (EU). It operates as a cabinet government, with 27 members of the Commission (informally known as "Commissioners") headed by a President. It includes an administrative body of about 32,000 European civil servants. The Commission is divided into departments known as Directorates-General (DGs) that can be likened to departments or ministries each headed by a Director-General who is responsible to a Commissioner.
