Praveen Gurung
Praveen Gurung ( ne, प्रवीण गुरुङ, 30 April 1962 –6 August 2000) was a folk music folk singer, singer and music arranger from Nepal who arranged over five hundred recordings during his career in both Nepali language, Nepali and Gurung language, Gurung. His work is well known throughout Nepal. His song ''yo daju ko mirmire bhakha...'' is still a widely popular duet. Praveen was raised in the musical environment of the Gurung people, Gurung people of which he belonged. In 1980 at the age of eighteen he joined the regionally famous folk group ''Danfe Kala Mandir'' in Pokhara as a dancer and singer. By 1983 Praveen had moved to Kathmandu and recorded his first song at Radio Nepal. He was awarded Ratna Recording Corporation's folk song prize that year for his recording ''Tesaita nabune ko dali''. Agansing Rai
Agansing Rai (24 April 1920 – 27 May 2000) was a Nepalese Gurkha recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Background He was born in village development Diyale ward no 3 Aapashwara Toll, in the Okhaldhunga district of Nepal. Victoria Cross Agansing Rai was a 24-year-old Naik in the 2nd Battalion, 5th Royal Gurkha Rifles, in the Indian Army during World War II, when he led his section in an attack on one of two posts which had been taken by the enemy and were threatening the British forces' communications on 26 June 1944 near the town of Bishenpur in the state of Manipur, India. Under withering fire Agansing Rai and his party charged a machine-gun. Agansing Rai killed three of the crew. The Victoria Cross (VC) is the highest and most prestigious award of the British honours system. It is awarded for valour "in the presence of the enemy" to members of the British Armed Forces and may be awarded posthumously. It was previously awarded by countries of the Commonwealth of Nations, most of which have established their own honours systems and no longer recommend British honours. It may be awarded to a person of any military rank in any service and to civilians under military command. No civilian has received the award since 1879. Gurkha
The Gurkhas or Gorkhas (), with endonym Gorkhali ), are soldiers native to the Indian Subcontinent, chiefly residing within Nepal and some parts of Northeast India. The Gurkha units are composed of Nepalis and Indian Gorkhas and are recruited for the Nepali Army (96000), Indian Army (42000), British Army (4010), Gurkha Contingent Singapore, Gurkha Reserve Unit Brunei, UN peacekeeping forces and in war zones around the world. Gaje Ghale
Gaje Ghale ( ne, गजे घले) VC (1 August 1918 – 28 March 2000) was a Nepalese Gurkha recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Biography Ghale was born in the Gorkha district of Nepal. He joined the British Indian Army in 1934. Ghale was 22 years old, and a Havildar in the 2nd Battalion of the 5th Royal Gurkha Rifles in the Indian Army during World War II when the following deed took place, for which he was awarded the VC. His medal citation reads: Ghale was subsequently commissioned as a ''jemadar'' (war-substantive subedar) and continued to serve in the Indian Army post-1947. He was promoted substantive ''subedar'' on 20 February 1948, retiring as an Hon. Captain. Princess Purnika Rajya Lakshmi Devi Shah of Nepal (born 10 December 2000) is the eldest daughter of Paras, former Crown Prince of Nepal and former Crown Princess Himani. She is a granddaughter of former King Gyanendra and Queen Komal Biography Princess Purnika is third in line to the defunct Nepalese Throne. In July 2006 the Nepalese government proposed changing the succession law to absolute primogeniture. The House of Representatives subsequently approved the bill, but it was not signed into law.
