Kaohsiung County
Kaohsiung County was a county in southern Taiwan between 1945 and 2010. The county seat was located in Fongshan City. History Kaohsiung County was established on 6 December 1945 on the territory of Takao Prefecture () shortly after the end of World War II. In the early years, Kaohsiung County consists of most territory of Takao Prefecture except the territory near cities of Takao (Kaohsiung) and Heitō ( Pingtung). The county is divided into districts (), which come from reformed Japanese districts (). The districts are divided into townships. On 16 August 1950, another division reform was implemented. The southern part of the county was separated and established Pingtung County. The remaining Kaohsiung County has territory equivalent to the Hōzan (Fengshan), Okayama (Kangshan), and Kizan (Chishan) in the Japanese era. Chuang Chia-chia
Chuang Chia-chia (; born 13 May 1989) is a Taiwanese taekwondo practitioner. Chuang later served as director of the Taoyuan Department of Sports. In March 2019, Chuang disclosed that she had been suspended from competition for a period of two years since 3 October 2017. World Taekwondo Federation records showed that Chuang missed three doping tests in 2017, resulting in her suspension. Yani Tseng (; born 23 January 1989) is a Taiwanese professional golfer playing on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour. She is the youngest player ever, male or female, to win five major championships and was ranked number 1 in the Women's World Golf Rankings for 109 consecutive weeks from 2011 to 2013. Of these, 101 were to be elected directly representing Taiwan Province and the special municipalities of Taipei City and Kaohsiung City. The remaining 29 seats were to represent overseas nationals, these delegates were appointed by the President. Results Turnout for the supplementary election was 75.5%. Of the 101 directly elected delegates, 72 belonged to the Kuomintang, 21 to Democratic Progressive Party and 8 were independents. Typhoon Sarah (1989)
Typhoon Sarah, known in the Philippines as Typhoon Openg, was a powerful typhoon that caused extensive damage along an erratic path across the Western Pacific in September 1989. Originating from a disturbance within a monsoon trough in early September, Sarah was first classified as a tropical depression near the Mariana Islands on September 5. Moving quickly westward, the depression soon strengthened into Tropical Storm Sarah. On September 8, the storm abruptly turned southward and temporarily attained typhoon status. Following a series of interactions with secondary areas of low pressure, the storm turned northward the following day. By September 11, Sarah entered a region favoring development and underwent a period of explosive intensification.
