Television In Estonia
Television in Estonia was introduced in 1955, following the Soviet government's decision to establish a television station in 1953. The National TV Channel ETV has maintained an archive since 1955 in which broadcasts of unique aspects of Estonian culture are held. Northern Estonia receives television signals from Finland. During the 1970s and 1980s, Finnish broadcasts were more popular than Soviet-Estonian offerings until the Singing Revolution, with many Estonians enjoying ''Dallas'' and other programs portraying non-Communist lifestyles. Digital television was officially launched on December 15, 2006 when the operator Eesti Digitaaltelevisiooni AS launched its pay service ZUUMtv, operated by Starman, on two multiplexes. Kaspar Velberg
Kaspar Velberg (born 29 January 1989) is an Estonian stage, television, film and voice actor. After graduating from drama school in 2012, he began an engagement at the Tallinn City Theatre as a stage actor and made his film debut in a starring role as Karl Tammik in the 2015 war drama ''1944''. Early life and education Kaspar Velberg was born in Padise Parish (now part of present-day Lääne-Harju Parish) to parents Arvo and Reet Velberg (née Põder). Both of his parents were foresters. He is the youngest of three children, with two older sisters. He spent his earliest childhood in Vihterpalu before the family moved to Saue when he was in the second grade, where attended schools. Karl-Andreas Kalmet
Karl-Andreas Kalmet (born on 8 February 1989) is an Estonian actor. Kalmet's parents are actor and director Madis Kalmet and diplomat and former actress Gita Kalmet (née Ränk). In 2008, he graduated from British School in The Netherlands in The Hague and in 2012 as an actor at from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre's Performing Arts Department. Then, until 2015, he worked as an actor at the Tallinn City Theatre. In 2012 he co-hosted for the TV3 television series ''Eesti otsib superstaari'' with his older brother, actor Henrik Kalmet. He is an attacker in football club Tallinna FC Reaal. Liis Lass (born 2 April 1989) is an Estonian stage, film, and television actress. Early life and education Liis Lass was born in Põltsamaa, Jõgeva County in 1989. She graduated from secondary school at the Põltsamaa Gymnasium in 2008. Afterward, she studied acting at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Tallinn under course supervisor Elmo Nüganen, graduating in 2012 after appearing in diploma productions in works by Neil Simon, Molière, Alexander "Sasha" Pepelyaev, and Polly Stenham. Karl-Erik Taukar (born 1 March 1989) is an Estonian singer, bass guitarist and television host. Career Taukar was born in Viljandi. In 2012, he was a finalist on the TV3 reality-competition television series ''Eesti otsib superstaari'', the Estonian version of ''Pop Idol''. In 2013, the gala Raadio 2 Aastahitt awarded him as ''Aasta uus tulija'' ('newcomer of the year'). His first single "Seitsme tuule poole" achieved second place in the chart "Aastahitt 2013". In 2015, Taukar won the Best Male Artist of the Year at the 2014 Estonian Music Awards. In 2017, Taukar won three awards: Best Album (''Kaks''), Best Pop Album (''Kaks'') and Best Male Artist at the 2017 Estonian Music Awards. Pääru Oja (born 16 May 1989) is an Estonian stage, film, voice, and television actor. Early life and education Pääru Oja was born in Tallinn, the youngest of two sons. His father is actor Tõnu Oja and his older brother is Estonian Theatre Festival CEO and theatre manager Kaarel Oja, who is married to actress Ursula Ratasepp. His uncle is actor, director and theatre instructor Rein Oja. He attended primary and secondary schools in Tallinn before being accepted to the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Tallinn, where he graduated from in 2012 under course supervisor Elmo Nüganen.
