2014 Republic Of China Local Elections
The Taiwanese local elections of 2014, commonly known as the nine-in-one elections (), were held on Saturday, 29 November 2014, to elect the Municipal Mayors, Municipal Councilors, Chiefs of indigenous districts in municipalities, Councilors of indigenous districts in municipalities, County Magistrates (City Mayors), County (City) Councilors, Township Chiefs, Township Councilors and chiefs of village (borough) in 6 municipalities and 16 counties (cities). Elected officials would serve a four-year term. Polling stations were open from 08:00 to 16:00 on the election day. The elections resulted in a substantial defeat for the KMT. Kao Ping-tse
Kao Ping-tse (; 23 December 1888 – 23 March 1970) was a Chinese astronomer. He was entirely self-taught in this field. The crater Kao on the Moon is named in his honor. Kao was born in Shanghai. His father was a revolutionary, a Jǔrén 舉人, and a key figure of the ''Nan Society'' (''South Society'', 南社) in the late Qing Dynasty. The Wayback Machine's might be helpful, but it appears as a mess of eight-bit characters. He worked at Qingdao Observatory, received from the Japanese after the Washington Naval Conference in 1924. He then worked at the Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy & Astrophysics, one of the founders of Purple Mountain Observatory. During World War II, he lived in Shanghai. Tarcy Su (; born 27 October 1970) is a Taiwanese singer and actress who was most popular in the 1990s during her recording career with Rock Records. She has released three albums since 2002. In 2021, she was nominated for Best Female Mandarin Singer in the 32nd Golden Melody Awards for her rendition in ''Every Side of Me''. Her first album was released in 1990, when she was 20 years old. Her albums were primarily in Mandarin, although she had three Cantonese solo albums to her name. Career Su's debut album was first released in early 1990. Ying Wei-min (; born 24 October 1970) is a Taiwanese actor and singer. He is the lead singer of an indie nakasi rock band, , which he founded in 1995. The band began with an emphasis on noise music, and shifted in style throughout the years. On stage, Ying is known by a diminutive of his surname, to which he usually affixes the name of his band. In 1998, Ying hosted a radio program, ''Psychological Collapse of Xiao Ying'' on Big Tree Radio FM 90.5. The show featured an eclectic array of sound mixed within a talk show format. Tsai Hai-en of the LTK Commune helped develop the show, which was taken off the air due to its inappropriate content. Isabelle Cheng
Isabelle Cheng (), also known as Cheng Nian-tzu, was an intelligence agent for the National Security Bureau (Republic of China), National Security Bureau of Taiwan. She came to public attention when her relationship with Donald Keyser, an official of the United States Department of State, became part of criminal charges against Keyser — in 2005, Keyser pleaded guilty to lying about the relationship, and to unauthorized possession of secret documents. Keyser has not been charged with espionage, however. Wu Pao-chun (, born 5 September 1970) is a Taiwanese baker best known for winning the title of Master Baker in the bread category of the 2010 Bakery Masters competition held in Paris. Legislative Yuan
The Legislative Yuan is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of China (Taiwan) located in Taipei. The Legislative Yuan is composed of 113 members, who are directly elected for 4-year terms by people of the Taiwan Area through a parallel voting system. Originally located in Nanking, the Legislative Yuan, along with the National Assembly (electoral college) and the Control Yuan (upper house), formed the tricameral parliament under the original 1947 Constitution. The Legislative Yuan previously had 759 members representing each constituencies of all provinces, municipalities, Tibet, Outer Mongolia and various professions. Wu Yi-chen (; born 23 April 1970) is a Taiwanese lawyer and politician. Early life She was born Wu Mei-hui and attended National Taiwan University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in law before obtaining an LL.M from National Chiao Tung University. Prior to serving on the Legislative Yuan, Wu was leader of the Taipei Association for the Promotion of Women's Rights. Political career Electoral history Wu was nominated for an at-large legislative seat in 2011, representing the Democratic Progressive Party, and elected via party list proportional representation.
