Ace Comics
''Ace Comics'' was a comic book series published by David McKay Publications between 1937 and 1949 — starting just before the Golden Age of Comic Books. The title reprinted syndicated newspaper strips owned by King Features Syndicate, following the successful formula of a mix of adventure and humor strips introduced by McKay in their ''King Comics'' title in April 1936; some of the strips were transferred from ''King Comics'' and continued in ''Ace Comics'' from issue #1. ''Ace Comics'' #11, the first appearance of The Phantom, is regarded by many to be a key issue in the history of comics, as it introduced to the comics format one of the first of the costumed heroes, leading to the Golden Age of superheroes in comics. Wonder Man (Fox Publications)
Wonder Man is a fictional superhero created by American cartoonist Will Eisner, whose only appearance was in the comic book ''Wonder Comics'' #1 (May 1939). The character is of some historical significance due to a lawsuit that resulted from his only appearance. Fictional character history Wonder Man's secret identity is Fred Carson, radio engineer for the International Broadcasting Corporation. During an excursion to Tibet, an old monk bestows Carson with a ring that gave him the power to fight evil when the need arose. His powers are almost exactly like those of Superman. Bert Christman
Allen Bert Christman (May 31, 1915 – January 23, 1942) was an American cartoonist and naval aviator. He is best known as artist of the newspaper comic strip '' Scorchy Smith'', about a pilot-adventurer in the inter-war years. He was also credited with co-creating the original, Wesley Dodds version of the DC Comics character the Sandman. Gardner Francis Cooper Fox (May 20, 1911 – December 24, 1986) was an American writer known best for creating numerous comic book characters for DC Comics. He is estimated to have written more than 4,000 comics stories, including 1,500 for DC Comics. Fox was also a science fiction author and wrote many novels and short stories. Fox is known as the co-creator of DC Comics heroes Barbara Gordon, the original Flash, Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Zatanna and the original Sandman, and was the writer who first teamed several of those and other heroes as the Justice Society of America, and later recreated the team as the Justice League of America. Superman began as one of several anthology features in the National Periodical Publications comic book ''Action Comics'' #1 in June 1938.
