Christian X Of Denmark
Christian X ( da, Christian Carl Frederik Albert Alexander Vilhelm; 26 September 1870 – 20 April 1947) was King of Denmark from 1912 to his death in 1947, and the only King of Iceland as Kristján X, in the form of a personal union rather than a real union between 1918 and 1944. He was a member of the House of Glücksburg, a branch of the House of Oldenburg, and the first monarch since King Frederick VII born into the Danish royal family; both his father and his grandfather were born as princes of a ducal family from Schleswig. Among his siblings was King Haakon VII of Norway. His son became Frederick IX of Denmark. His character has been described as authoritarian and he strongly stressed the importance of royal dignity and power. His reluctance to fully embrace democracy resulted in the Easter Crisis of 1920, in which he dismissed the democratically elected Social Liberal cabinet with which he disagreed, and installed one of his own choosing. Hans Niels Andersen
Hans Niels Andersen (10 September 1852 – 30 December 1937) was a Danish shipping magnate, businessman, diplomat and founder of the East Asiatic Company. Early life Born into a working-class family in Nakskov, he trained as a shipbuilder before hiring on as a ship's carpenter in 1872. He came to Bangkok for the first time in 1873 and advanced to first mate and later master of ''Thoon Kramom'', a ship owned by Chulalongkorn, the king of Siam. Subsequently, he entered the freight business in East Asia and later Europe. Business In 1884 he started his own company in Bangkok, Andersen & Co., which encompassed import/export, shipping, logging and sawmills. Returning to Copenhagen, he opened a branch office of his company and in 1897, together with , director of the Danish Farmers' Bank, founded the East Asiatic Company with an initial equity of 3.5 million Danish kroner. Thorvald Aagaard
Thorvald Aagaard (8 June 1877 in Rolsted, Faaborg-Midtfyn – 22 March 1937 in Ringe) was a Danish composer, organist and college teacher. Martin Borch
Martin Borch (1 March 1852 – 8 February 1937) was a Danish architect. Biography Borch was born at Skerngaard near Skjern, Denmark. He was the son of Frederik Borch (1807–1868) and Johanne Frederikke Borch née Frausing (1809–1886). He attended Randers Latin School from 1863 to 1866 and C.V. Nielsen's drawing school from 1868 to 1869. From 1869 to 1877, he attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. From 1886 to 1916, Borch was a permanent architect for the Danish sugar manufacturing company, De Danske Spritfabrikker. As a royal building inspector, he received many commissions for the University of Copenhagen and Danmarks Nationalbank. From 1893 to 1899, he was an assistant at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture. He received the Eckersberg Medal twice: in 1894 and in 1901. Ursula Munch-Petersen
Ursula Munch-Petersen (born 29 December 1937) is a Danish ceramist. Biography Born in Rønne on the island of Bornholm, Ursula Munch-Petersen is the daughter of Gustaf and Lisbeth Munch-Petersen, both of whom were also ceramists and potters. She attended the Kunsthåndværkerskolen (design school) in Copenhagen from 1956 to 1960 and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1970 to 1972. In 1962, she married the artist Erik Hagens. She grew up on Bornholm and after graduating from the Academy, worked for a year in the family business in Rønne. In 1978, she acquired her own studio on Møn. Munch-Petersen's work extends from artistically designed individual items to mass-produced series of tableware. In the 1960s, she designed for Bing and Grøndahl but later worked for Royal Copenhagen. Aino Kann Rasmussen
Aino Kann Rasmussen (born 14 December 1937, Hellerup) is a Danish archaeologist, curator and former chair of the Velux Foundation. Education and career Rasmussen studied archaeology under Peter Glob at Aarhus University, where she participated in the Danish archaeological expedition to Bahrain. After obtaining her master's degree, she became an inspector first at the National Museum of Denmark and later Esbjerg Museum in Jutland. In 1986, she left the museum sector to work at the fine art auction house Bruun Rasmussen Kunstauktioner. Rasmussen's father was Villum Kann Rasmussen, the founder of Velux and other Danish window manufacturing companies. She served as the director and chair of the board of the Velux Foundation, the nonprofit foundation established by her father, from 1981 until 2007. Søren Krarup (born 3 December 1937) is a Danish pastor, writer, and politician, who was a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Danish People's Party from 2001 to 2011.. Retrieved on 10 May 2018.
