Arnaud Fraiteur
Arnaud Fraiteur was a Belgian resistance fighter. He was born in Ixelles on 23 May 1924 and died on 10 May 1943 in Fort Breendonk. He was hanged by the Germans for assassinating the Belgian collaborator Paul Colin. Before the war Born into an upper-middle-class family on 23 May 1924, Arnaud Fraiteur went to secondary school at the Athénée Royal d'Ixelles. Emile Claus
Emile Claus (27 September 1849 – 14 June 1924) was a Belgian painter. Life Emile Claus was born on 27 September 1849, in Sint-Eloois-Vijve, a village in West Flanders (Belgium), at the banks of the river Lys. Emile was the twelfth child in a family of thirteen. Father Alexander was a grocer-publican and for some time town councillor. Mother Celestine Verbauwhede came from a Brabant skipper’s family and had her hands full with her offspring. As a child, Emile already loved drawing and on Sunday went three kilometres on foot to the Academy of Waregem (the neighbouring town) to learn how to draw. He graduated from the Academy with a gold medal. Although father Claus allowed him to take drawing classes, he did not fancy an artist's career for his son. Instead, he sent Emile as a baker’s apprentice to Lille (France). Emile learned French there but the job of a baker clearly did not appeal to him. Amedée Visart De Bocarmé
Count Amédée Charles Louis Visart de Bocarmé (4 November 1835 – 29 May 1924) was a Belgian Catholic Party politician who served as mayor of Bruges for almost fifty years, from 1876 to 1924, and as a member of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives for the Bruges constituency for over fifty years, from 1868 to 1921. As a member of parliament he took a particular interest in social legislation. Visart was a member of the organising committee of the Ghent Planning Congress 1913, "the first genuinely international conference to address all aspects of civic life and design". Constantin Brodzki
Constantin Brodzki (; 26 October 1924 – 27 March 2021) was an Italian-born, Belgian architect. He is mostly known for his Brutalist architecture and prefabrication, prefabricated modules using concrete in fluid and organic shapes. He was awarded the quinquennial in 2007. Brodzki was born in Rome and moved to Belgium before World War II. After an internship working with architects involved with building the Headquarters of the United Nations, UN Headquarters in New York City, he moved back to Belgium, where his most notable works, including the CBR Building, were realized. On 28 March 2021 it was reported that Brodzki had died, at the age of 96. Early life and education Brodzki was born on in Rome, Kingdom of Italy.
