The Centre for Fine Arts (french: Palais des Beaux-Arts, nl, Paleis voor Schone Kunsten) is a multi-purpose cultural venue in Brussels, Belgium. It is often referred to as BOZAR (a homophone of ''Beaux-arts'') in French or PSK in Dutch. Claude De Bruyn (1 September 1943 – 27 August 2020) was a Belgian serviceman and television presenter. Biography Lieutenant-Colonel De Bruyn was born in Uccle in 1943. He spent three years at the École royale des cadets before being admitted to the Royal Military Academy. Lastly, he attended the École royale de Gendarmerie. In 1966, he graduated from the University of Liège with a degree in criminology. In 1970, De Bruyn was hired by RTBF to host a weekly television program on road safety, titled ''Contacts''. In 1978, the manual ''Feu vert pour le permis de conduire'' was published, intending to prepare drivers for their upcoming exams. De Bruyn left the program in 1980. André Smets (5 July 1943 – 30 December 2019) was a Belgian politician, who served as Mayor of Herve from 1985 to 2010. He also sat in the Chamber of Representatives for the Verviers constituency from 1999 to 2003. As a member of parliament he mainly focused on traffic, infrastructure and government-owned companies. In 1970 he was elected to Herve as a municipal councillor for the then PSC (precursor of the current Centre démocrate humaniste) and from 1977 to 1985 as an alderman. In 1985 he became mayor of the municipality, which he remained until leaving politics at the end of 2010. Smets was a teacher by profession and from 1975 to 1999 he was head of the Institut Saint-Joseph in Herve. Walter Godefroot (born 2 July 1943) is a retired Belgian professional road bicycle racer and former directeur sportif of , later known as T-Mobile Team. As amateur cyclist, he won the bronze medal in the individual road race of the 1964 Summer Olympics after his young compatriot Eddy Merckx was caught in the final. Both men turned professional in 1965 and Walter Godefroot was presented as Merckx's bane in his early days, winning several races ahead of him: the Belgian championship in 1965, Liège–Bastogne–Liège (1967) and Paris–Roubaix (1969). But Godefroot eventually didn't have Merckx's abilities in stage races and concentrated on the separate stages in the grand tours. He won ten stages in the Tour de France, including the stage on the Champs-Élysées in 1975 where the Tour finished for the first time, and the green jersey in the 1970 Tour de France, one stage in the 1970 Tour of Italy and two stages in the 1971 Tour of Spain. Jean-Jacques Cassiman (25 April 1943 – 5 August 2022) was a Belgian geneticist and professor of human genetics. Education and career He graduated in 1967 from the Department of Medical Sciences of the Catholic University of Leuven and then did five years research on human genetics at Stanford University in the United States. From 1976 to 1981 he was associate professor in the Department of Human Genetics in Leuven. In 1981 he became a full professor in the same department and he was head of the laboratory for human mutations and polymorphisms in the Centre for Human Genetics affiliated with the Catholic University of Leuven. In 1998 he became head of the centre. Jean-Jacques Cassiman has done work in the field of human genetics and DNA research. Political career Norbert De Cuyper was asked by then Mayor of Torhout Roger Windels to run for '' Schepen'' in the election of 1982 for CD&V. Norbert won the seat and became ''schepen'' of festivities, culture, education and middle class on 3 January 1983, he held this position until 1991 therefore being the longest serving ''schepen'' of Torhout, a record that has not been broken since.
