Nils Christoffer Bøckman
Nils Christoffer Bøckman (6 July 1880 – 22 December 1973) was a Norwegian lieutenant-colonel and businessperson. Born in Trondheim, Bøckman was educated at the military academy, graduating as lieutenant in 1901. He was promoted to captain in 1905, major in 1930, and lieutenant-colonel as part of his participation in World War II in Northern Norway. Bøckman started working for Meråker Brug, where he was responsible for the estates in Verdal. He was also president of Trondhjems Skiklub. In 1916, he was elected into the board of the tramway company Graakalbanen. In 1919, he was hired as director of the company, and would remain in the position until 1966, when the company was nationalized. During World War II, two members of the company's board were executed. Rosemaling
Rose-painting, , or is a Scandinavian decorative folk painting that flourished from the 1700s to the mid-19th century, particularly in Norway. In Sweden, rose-painting began to be called , c. 1901, for the region where it had been most popular and (''kurbits''), in the 1920s, for a characteristic trait, but in Norway the old name still predominates beside terms for local variants. Rose-painting was used to decorate church walls and ceilings. It then spread to wooden items commonly used in daily life, such as ale bowls, stools, chairs, cupboards, boxes, and trunks. Using stylized ornamentation made up of fantasy flowers, scrollwork, fine line work, flowing patterns and sometimes geometric elements give rose-painting its unique feel. Per Lysne
Per Lysne (December 8, 1880 – September 21, 1947) was a Norwegian-American artist most associated with bringing the traditional Norwegian folk art of Rosemåling to the United States. Biography Per A. Lysne was born on the Ljøsne farm in Lærdal, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. He had been trained in rosemaling by Anders Olsen, an artist whose work was recognized at the Exposition Universelle at Paris in 1893. Lysne married Ingeborg Nundal (1882–1940) in 1906. Lysne and his wife immigrated to Stoughton, Wisconsin in 1907. After the death of his first wife, Lysne married Olga Ethun (1882–1956) in 1945. He died at a Stoughton hospital in 1947 following a heart attack. Lysne specialized in redecorating antique chests and painting large platters. He developed a thriving rosemaling enterprise and taught the art to a select few. Jon Jørundson Mannsåker
Jon Jørundson Mannsåker (28 September 1880 – 28 February 1964) was a Norwegian priest and politician for the Liberal Party. Biography He was born at Odda in Hordaland, Norway. He took an education in theology. He was the headmaster of Hardanger folk high school (''Hardanger folkehøgskule'') from 1912 to 1928, and at the same time an auxiliary priest in Ullensvang from 1914. In 1928 he became a curate in Voss. In 1933 he moved permanently to Oslo to become a curate there. From 1940 to 1950 he served as vicar. He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament in 1927 and 1930, representing the constituency Hordaland and the Liberal Party.
