Henrik Carstensen
Henrik Carstensen (30 October 1753 – 15 September 1835) was a Norwegian businessman, timber merchant and shipowner. He served as a representative at the Norwegian Constituent Assembly in 1814. Henrik Carstensen was born on the island of Risøya near the town of Risør in Nedenes county, Norway. Henrik Carstensen went to sea in his younger years and was a captain by 1775. From 1780, he was skipper on his own ship. In 1788, he started trading in Risor in Søndeled, where he ran both a lumber and shipping business. In 1799, he purchased (''Egelands jernverk'') at Eikeland in Gjerstad. Over time, he bought forested acreage estates, operated sawmills and a distillery. In 1833 he retired from the business, which he conferred upon his nephew, Carsten Henrik Carstensen (1796–1852), whom he had adopted in 1821. Ole Olsen Amundrød
Ole Olsen Amundrød (30 May 1771 – 24 March 1835) was a Norwegian farmer and schoolteacher. He served as a representative at the Norwegian Constitutional Assembly. Ole Olsen Amundrød was born on the farm Ousby (today Østby Søndre) at Tjølling in Vestfold, Norway. In 1801 he was appointed schoolmaster, a position he retained until 1810. In 1808, he married Ingeborg Maria Kristoffersdatter (1791-1855). In 1813, the couple took over her family farm, Ommundrød in Tjølling. They also ran an inn on the farm. They were the parents of eight children. After his death, his widow ran the farm until 1842 when she sold it to her son Ole Kristian Olsen and son in law Nils Nilsen. August Weenaas
August Weenaas (1835–1924) was a Norwegian American Lutheran minister and educator. August Weenaas was the founding President of Augsburg University. Biography August Weenaas was born in Norway and educated in the ministry at the University of Christiania. He was ordained as a minister in the Church of Norway. He served as a pastor there for several years at Loppen prior to immigrating to the United States in 1868. Weenaas resigned his pastorate in the beginning of February 1868. Weenaas became a professor in Paxton, Illinois at the Scandinavian Augustana Synod Seminary (now Augustana College) in Rock Island, Illinois. In 1869, August Weenaas was named president of Augsburg Seminary. August Weenaas was Augsburg’s president from 1869 until 1876.
