Engebret Soot
Engebret Olsen Soot (26 May 1786 – 3 March 1859) was a Norwegian engineer. He was one of Norway's first canal builders and joined the timber channels at Otteid and Mangen-Grasmo. He is known as the father of the Fredrikshald Canal (now known as the Halden Canal) in south-eastern Norway. He constructed locks and canals for the transport of both watercraft and timber. Biography Engebret Olsen Soot was born in Aurskog (now Aurskog-Høland) in Akershus, Norway. He started his career as a blacksmith and carpenter. In 1804, he built a mill on the Sotbekken, a small river at Lierfoss in Aurskog-Høland. From 1816 until 1825, he was a caretaker at the Mangenskogen forest in Aurskog-Høland. From 1827 to 1846 he was an inspector on the Halden watercourse () in Østfold and Akershus. In 1824 he built works from Fredrikshald to enable log transport from Stora Le in Dalsland, Sweden, into the Fredrikshald watershed. Ludvig Daae (priest)
Ludvig Daae (May 9, 1723 – February 18, 1786) was a Norwegian priest and landowner. Daae was born in Vik in Sogn og Fjordane Counties of Norway, county, the son of Anders Daae (priest), Anders Daae (1680–1763) and Birgitte Munthe. He received a master's degree in philosophy in 1746, after which he used the title ''Mag.'' or ''Magister'' 'master'. Daae served as the parish priest in Lindås from 1759 onward. Daae married Drude Cathrine Haar (1739–1787) when she was 15 years old. He had 15 children with her, and several of his children and grandchildren served as priests and officers in Western Norway. Daae was the grandfather of the historian Ludvig Kristensen Daa and the priest Claus Daae, and the great-grandfather of the politician Ludvig Daae (politician), Ludvig Daae, the historian Ludvig Ludvigsen Daae, and Suzannah Ibsen, Suzannah Daae Thoresen, the wife of Henrik Ibsen. Peder Christian Hersleb Kjerschow
Peder Christian Hersleb Kjerschow (29 June 1786 – 24 November 1866) was a Norwegian clergyman. Biography He was born at Rødøy in Nordland, Norway. He was the son of the Danish-born priest Rasmus Sundt Christensen Kjerschow (1739–1806) and his wife Benedicte Maria Pedersdatter Hersleb (born 1744). His father was a vicar in Brønnøy, who had migrated to Norway from Jutland. He was a student at Trondheim Cathedral School and earned his cand.theol. in 1808. From 1814, he was a resident chapel in Aker Prestegjeld, where he served under parish priest Claus Pavels (1769–1822). In 1823, he became a parish priest in Aker. In 1830, he was added as the second bishop of the Diocese of Tromsø. He was a bishop in the Church of Norway for twenty-seven years; first in Tromsø from 1830 to 1848 and later in the Diocese of Bjørgvin from 1848 to 1857. Johan Bülow Wamberg
Johan Bülow Wamberg (15 May 1786 – 8 June 1852) was a Norwegian politician. He was born in Hvideseid as the son of Nils Wamberg and his wife Sussanne Sophie Saxe. His father had migrated from Denmark to work as a district stipendiary magistrate. Johan B. Wamberg was to a large degree raised by politician and businessperson Niels Aall.
