Erik Bredal (governor)
Erik (Erich) Pedersen Bredal (1683 – c. 1741) was a Norwegian-Danish colonial administrator who served as Governor of St. Thomas and St. Jan from 1716 to 1724. Early life and education Bredal was baptized on 24 November at Brønnøy, Norway. His father was the local pastor Peder Erichsen Bredal (1651–1714), son of bishop Erik Bredal. His mother was Margrethe Thomesdatter Meier (1660–1695). His parents were married on 9 October 1673. Bredal received his secondary schooling in Bergen before enrolling at the University of Copenhagen in July 1697. In June 1702, he was briefly back in Brønnøy, preaching as on the second day of Pentecost (5 June 1702) in the absence of his father. Colonial administrator Bredal landed on St. Thomas on 9 May 1713. He spent the next three years as secretary, bookkeeper and member of the Government Council (). Iver Elieson
Iver Elieson (3 November 1683 – 4 November 1753) was a Norwegian businessman, land owner and timber merchant. Elieson was born at Drammen in Buskerud, Norway. His father, Elias Nielssøn (1654-1699), was a merchant in Bragernes. Dating from the 1720s, Elieson started buying forests and farms in Akershus. Eventually he developed into a large sawmill owner and timber exporter. He also owned a paper mill by the Akerselva. He had success with his timber trade and was among the wealthiest persons in Oslo, Christiania (now Oslo). Personal life He was married to Karen Mortensdatter Leuch (1694–1765). They couple had ten children. Their son, Morten Leuch Elieson (1724-1763) owned Hafslund, Hafslund Manor in Sarpsborg. Their daughter, Karen Elieson (1723-1806), was married to Christian Ancher who owned Paléet Manor near Bjørvika. References

Knut Helle
Knut Helle (19 December 1930 – 27 June 2015) was a Norwegian historian. A professor at the University of Bergen from 1973 to 2000, he specialized in the late medieval history of Norway. He has contributed to several large works. Early life, education and marriage He was born in Larvik as the son of school inspector Hermann Olai Helle (1893–1973) and teacher Berta Marie Malm (1906–1991). He was the older brother of politician Ingvar Lars Helle. The family moved to Hetland when Knut Helle was seventeen years old. He took the examen artium in Stavanger in 1949, and a teacher's education in Kristiansand in 1952. He studied philology in Oslo and Bergen, and graduated with the cand.philol. degree in 1957. Peder Colbjørnsen
Peder Colbjørnsen (5 July 1683 – 17 March 1738) was a Norwegian timber merchant and war hero. Colbjørnsen was born at the Sørum vicarage at Romerike in Akershus, Norway. He was the son of parish priest Colbjørn Torstensen Arneberg (1628-1720) and Catharina Kjeldsdatter Stub (1653-1731). He was a brother of Hans Colbjørnsen and half brother of Anna Colbjørnsdatter. The family later re-located to Fredrikshald, where his uncle Niels Kjeldsen Stub (1638-1721) had a significant lumber business. Peder came into the company and was in 1715 made his uncle's heir. Peder Colbjørnsen was chief of the civilian resistance at Fredrikshald during the Great Northern War. He is known for his achievements at the battles in 1716 and 1718. Anna Paulsdatter Krefting née Vogt (1683-1766), was a Norwegian businesswoman who ran and expanded her family's business enterprises in and around Christiania for over 50 years. Among these enterprises were mines and ironworks, forestry, and trade. Anna Paulsdatter Vogt was born into an affluent family in Christiania with ties to the government in Copenhagen. Her father, Paul Pedersen Vogt, was originally from Denmark and was responsible for the stores at Akershus Fortress but also a merchant, mill owner, and shipowner in Christiania. Anna's mother, Catarina née Bauman, was the daughter of Dominicus Brau(n)man, war commissary and also in charge of the stores at Akershus.
