Frederick III Of Denmark
Frederick III ( da, Frederik; 18 March 1609 – 9 February 1670) was King of Denmark and Norway from 1648 until his death in 1670. He also governed under the name Frederick II as diocesan administrator (colloquially referred to as prince-bishop) of the Prince-Bishopric of Verden (1623–29 and again 1634–44), and the Prince-Archbishopric of Bremen (1635–45). The second-eldest son of Christian IV and Anne Catherine of Brandenburg, Frederick was only considered an heir to the throne after the death of his older brother Prince Christian in 1647. He instituted absolute monarchy in Denmark-Norway in 1660, confirmed by law in 1665 as the first in Western historiography. He also ordered the creation of the Throne Chair of Denmark. Anders Christensen Bording (21 January 1619 – 24 May 1677) was a Danish poet and journalist. He was born in Ribe. He is notable for his epigrams, ballads, occasional poems and epistles, as well as for publishing the first Danish newspaper, the monthly ''Den Danske Mercurius ''Den danske Mercurius'' was a Danish newspaper, first published on 1 August 1666, by Anders Bording. Den Danske Mercurius
''Den danske Mercurius'' was a Danish newspaper, first published on 1 August 1666, by Anders Bording. He founded his versified newspaper, published in Danish with the title ''Den Danske Mercurius''. The newspaper was published on the order of the Sovereign. Its publishing was a turning point in the history of Danish journalism. It was published on a monthly basis with two quarto pages. It contained domestic and international news written in Alexandrine verse style, accompanied by reasoning in the form of small poems. Regarding the messages from Denmark itself, news from the Royal Danish court took up the most space, but many other news topics were mentioned too, e.g. the arrival of foreign diplomats, appointments, meteorological phenomena and fires. Holmen Cemetery
Holmen Cemetery (Danish: Holmens Kirkegård) is the oldest cemetery still in use in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was first located next to the naval Church of Holmen in the city centre but relocated to its current site on Dag Hammarskjölds Allé in the Østerbro district in 1666. The cemetery originally served as a burial site for indigent sailors in royal service and their families, complementing the military Garnisons Cemetery, from 1711 located on a neighbouring site. History When the anchor forge at Bremerholm was converted into a naval church by Christian IV in 1619, a churchyard was laid out next to it. It remained in use until 1651 but was then, following an extension of the church between 1641 and 1649, relocated to a site outside the Bastioned Fortifications, next to the main road leading in and out of the Eastern City Gate. Østerbro () (literally, "Eastern Bridge") is one of the 10 official districts of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is located just north of the city centre, outside the old city gate Østerport which, after it was moved around 1700, used to be located close to present-day Østerport Station. Christian Christophersen Sehested
Christian Christophersen Sehested (22 Febr. 1666 – 19 July 1740) was a Danish noble and statesman. Biography He was the son of Christoffer Clausen Sehestedt til Nislevgaard paa Fyn (d. 1699). After the death of his father, he inherited the Nislevgaard manor. In 1701 he was married to Charlotte Amalie Gersdorff (b. 1685 d. 1751). Through the marriage, he came to possess Ravnholt manor. His marriage was childless. He became a nobleman '' Hofjunker'' in 1687. In 1694, he was Deputy in the Land and the Applicant's Commission. In 1698 he obtained the State Council title was sent to Stockholm as to replace Jens Juel (1631 –1700). He was called in 1700 to become Foreign Minister. He was the second Grand Chancellor of Denmark from 1708 to 1721. He was preceded by Conrad von Reventlow (1644–1708) and succeeded by Ulrik Adolf Holstein (1664–1737). Johan Conrad Ernst
Johan Conrad Ernst (16 June 1666 – 23 September 1750) was a Danish architect and royal master builder. He was the son of Johan Adolf Ernst, a successful linen merchant who had immigrated from Nuremberg and had a luxurious residence on Amagertorv in Copenhagen. Early life and titles Little is known of his childhood or education but the Swedish architect Nicodemus Tessin the Younger commented that the young man was sophisticated, sociable and widely traveled. At the age of 27, he already had the rank of royal master builder and became court assessor in 1703, counsellor to the chancery in 1709, counselor at law in 1716, and finally counselor of state in 1729. Achievements In 1696, as royal master builder, he was sent to Stockholm to assist Tessin in completing a wooden model and plans for a new residential palace for Christian V. Iver Krabbe
Iver Krabbe (March 22, 1602 – October 30, 1666) was a Danish nobleman, military officer, and governor-general in Norway. Biography Iver Krabbe was born at Övedskloster Manor in the province of Scania in eastern Denmark, the son of Tage Krabbe (1553–1612) and Sofie Jørgensdatter Friis (1576–1611). He studied in Orléans and then in Padua in 1625, and returned home in 1628. There he was made a lesser noble at the court, but he left the post on August 25 that year, when he married Karen Ottesdatter Marsvin (1610–1680) at Copenhagen Castle. Over the years, the couple had nine children: two boys and seven girls. In 1629 Iver Krabbe was enfeoffed with Laholm, which he exchanged for Varberg in 1636. In 1636 he became the commander of the union troops in the Duchies of Schleswig and Holstein, and in 1641 he was ordered to inspect Bohus Fortress.
