C. T. Rajakantham
C. T. Rajakantham (1917–2002) was a Tamil stage and film actress. She was the mother-in-law of playback singer Tiruchi Loganathan and grandmother of playback singers and popular music show judges T. L. Maharajan and Deepan Chakkravarthy Early life Rajakantham was born in Coimbatore in about 1917. Once while staging a play in the city, the members of a drama troupe headed by S. R. Janaki stayed at a house owned by Rajakantham's father. Impressed by her acting skills, Janaki inducted Rajakantham in her troupe. Starting with minor roles, Rajakantham later formed a successful comedy duo with veteran comedian Kali N. Rathnam. Rajakantham made her debut in the 1941 movie ''Sabapathy'' alongside Rathnam. While the commander is loyal to the queen, her minister is a wily person. A Chieftain of a neighbouring land is trying to grab the queen's kingdom with the connivance of the wily minister. The chieftain sends his court dancer who is also his mistress to seduce the minister. The commander, who is the hero in the film, has a lover. Based on the short story ''Chitrannai'' by Pudhumaipithan, it stars Vijayan (actor), Vijayan, Ashwini and Madhu Malini. ''Madras to Pondicherry'' is a 1966 Indian Tamil-language road film, directed by Thirumalai–Mahalingam and written by Usilai Somanathan. The film stars Ravichandran and Kalpana. It was released on 16 December 1966, became a commercial success, and was remade in Hindi as '' Bombay to Goa'' (1972).
