C.D. Platense
Platense Football Club S.A. de C.V. or simply Platense is a Honduran football club, located in Platense, Puerto Cortés, Cortés. The club was founded on 4 July 1960 and in 1965 became the first champions of the Honduran National Football League. Their home venue is the Estadio Excelsior. History Officially Platense Sport Club was founded on July 4, 1960, in the neighborhood of Campo Rojo, Puerto Cortés. The initial founders were Roger Riera, Roberto MejÃa, Roosevelt Garbut, and Rene Paiz. They were later joined by Manuel Flores, Héctor Sánchez, Rolando Méndez, Samuel Williams, Rudolph Williams, Ricardo Fúnez, Julio Linares, Óscar Pineda, Raúl Betancourt, Francisco Maldonado, Humberto Dole, Rolando Zavala and Reginaldo Guevara. The founders looked to emulate a successful international club, and ultimately settled on Platense, inspired by Platense of Argentina. 1996–97 Honduran Liga Nacional
The 1996–97 Honduran Liga Nacional season was the 31st edition of the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional de Honduras, Honduran Liga Nacional. The format of the tournament remained the same as the 1995–96 Honduran Liga Nacional, previous season. Club Deportivo Olimpia won the title after defeating Platense F.C., C.D. Platense in the finals. Both teams qualified to the 1998 CONCACAF Champions' Cup. Honduran Supercup
The Honduran Supercup is a Honduran football competition held yearly as a preseason match between the reigning champions of the Liga Nacional and the Honduran Cup. The competition started unofficially in 1997, but it was discontinued after just two seasons. In 2015, it was intended to be reactivated, however the match between F.C. Motagua and Club Deportivo Olimpia was scheduled but not played. One year later, a new Supercup edition was finally reestablished after 17 years of dormancy. The Honduran football authorities however, did not consider the competition official until 2017. 2015 Honduran Cup
The 2015 Honduran Cup was the 10th staging of the Honduran Cup and the first edition since 1998. Club Deportivo Olimpia are the defending champions. The 2015 Honduran Cup is referred to as the Copa Presidente de Honduras for sponsorship reasons. The cup is a creation of the Honduran government funded by money allocated to national security fund. Its purpose is to support the growth of sport to detract the youth from vices and to promote national tourism for rural towns. The cup was contested by 64 teams from the top 3 divisions of the country. There was a total of 10 teams from La Liga Nacional (First Division), 27 from Liga de Ascenso (Second Division) and 27 from Liga Mayor (Third Division). It was the first cup in which teams outside the top division participated. Some stipulations included that the lower seeded team hosted the matchup and five substitutions were allowed. The 2018 Honduran Cup was the 13th edition of the Honduran Cup and the fourth as Copa Presidente. The tournament was announced on 13 April 2018. The cup was contested by 64 teams from the top 3 divisions. There were a total of 10 teams from Liga Nacional (1st division), 28 from Liga de Ascenso (2nd division) and 26 from Liga Mayor (3rd division). C.D. Marathón were the defending champions. Platense F.C. obtained their third title after beating 2–1 Real C.D. España in the final and will face the league winners in the 2019 Honduran Supercup. 1997–98 Honduran Liga Nacional
In 1997–98 the Honduran Liga Nacional brought a new competition system; the league would be now divided into two tournaments (Apertura and Clausura), having C.D. Motagua won their 6th and 7th title in this new format. The tournament lasted from August 1997 to October 1998 and it consisted of 11 teams for the first time since the 1981–82 season.
