Bystander (album)
''Bystander'' is a six track extended play by Canadians, Canadian alternative rock band Jets Overhead. It was released on March 8, 2011 and was produced with Neil Osborne of 54-40 (band), 54-40. The Extended play, EP is currently only available as a online distribution, digital download. The songs on ''Bystander'' were originally recorded at the same time as ''No Nations'', but were not included in ''No Nations'' because of stylistic difference. ''Bystander'' was recorded on Hornby Island at the Joe King Hall and in Victoria, British Columbia at Seacoast Sound, the Alix Gooldon Hall, Miramontes Drive, and Eldorbud Place. Jets Overhead
Jets Overhead are a Canadian alternative rock band formed in 2003 and based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Band history Formation and debut Singer Adam Kittredge conceived the name Jets Overhead while observing air traffic patterns in London, England. Jets Overhead was formed in 2003 by Kittredge, guitarist Piers Henwood (cousin of Kittredge), bassist Jocelyn Greenwood (high school friend of Kittredge), and the band's first drummer, Brendan Pye. Soon after, vocalist Antonia Freybe-Smith joined, and Pye was replaced by Luke Renshaw, their current drummer. The band's first release was 2003's self-titled EP, ''Jets Overhead'', which charted No. 42 on the CMJ music charts. Dream Pop
Dream pop (also typeset as dreampop) is a subgenre of alternative rock and neo-psychedelia that emphasizes atmosphere and sonic texture as much as pop melody. Common characteristics include breathy vocals, dense productions, and effects such as reverb, echo, tremolo, and chorus. It often overlaps with the related genre of shoegaze, and the two genre terms have at times been used interchangeably. The genre came into prominence in the 1980s through the work of groups such as Cocteau Twins and A.R. Kane. Subsequently, acts such as My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Galaxie 500, Julee Cruise, Lush, and Mazzy Star released significant albums in the style. The band take their name from the slogan "54-40 or Fight!", coined to express the unsuccessful expansionist agenda of James K. Polk's presidency, which was intent upon controlling a contested U.S.-Canada border area in the Oregon boundary dispute. 54-40 has had a successful career, with four of their albums being certified Platinum in Canada. The band has been nominated for eight Juno Awards. Between 1996 and 2016, 54-40 were among the top 150 selling Canadian artists in Canada and among the top 50 selling Canadian bands in Canada. ''No Nations'' is the second album by the Canadian alternative rock band Jets Overhead. The album was released June 2, 2009 in Canada, with later release dates in the United States and worldwide. The band chose not to use the voluntary purchase model as they previously used for ''Bridges''. Hornby Island
Hornby Island of British Columbia, Canada, is one of the two northernmost Gulf Islands, located near Vancouver Island's Comox Valley, the other being Denman Island.
