By-elections to the 42nd Canadian Parliament were held to fill vacancies in the House of Commons of Canada between the 2015 and the 2019 federal elections. The 42nd Canadian Parliament existed from 2015 to 2019 with the membership of its House of Commons having been determined by the results of the Canadian federal election held on October 19, 2015. The Liberal Party of Canada had a majority government during this Parliament. Calgary Midnapore is a federal electoral district in Alberta, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 2015. It has been represented by Stephanie Kusie since she won the 2017 by-election. Calgary Midnapore was created by the 2012 federal electoral boundaries redistribution and was legally defined in the 2013 representation order. It came into effect upon the call of the 42nd Canadian federal election, which was held in October 2015. It was created mostly out of the former seat of Calgary Southeast, with smaller portions coming from Calgary Southwest and Macleod. It is named for the Midnapore neighbourhood. Denis Lebel
Denis Lebel (born May 26, 1954) is a Canadian politician and who served as mayor of Roberval, Quebec and deputy leader of the Official Opposition. Lebel was born in Roberval, Quebec. Political career Lebel was elected to the House of Commons of Canada on September 17, 2007, in the Roberval—Lac-Saint-Jean by-election, as a member of the Conservative Party. Four years later, it emerged that he had been an active member of the Bloc Quebecois from 1993 to 2001. Sturgeon River—Parkland is a federal electoral district in the Edmonton Capital Region of northern Alberta, Canada, and has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 2015. It was created in 2012 from the electoral districts of Edmonton—Spruce Grove (61%), Westlock—St. Paul (33%) and Yellowhead (6%). It was essentially the suburban portion of Edmonton—Spruce Grove. That riding's MP, Rona Ambrose of the Conservative Party of Canada, opted to transfer there, and won easily. She served as interim leader of the Tories, and hence Leader of the Opposition, until her resignation in May 2017.
