BuzMuzik
BuzMuzik was a viewer-controlled British music television channel owned and operated by CSC Media Group. The channel was the first of its kind, using social media and SMS to control the music playlists. It launched on 30 May 2012, the launch date having slipped back several times from an initially mooted February opening. History The channel launched in the slot previously occupied by Chart Show TV +1, the first song being played was Take Care by Drake featuring Rihanna. Sky, this space was previously used by NME TV from November 2007 to January 2012 and MinX for six weeks prior to that. NME TV had also been broadcasting on Freesat since February 2011. BuzMuzik played a range of current and contemporary hits, and included viewer-voted selection shows in a similar manner to the ''Most Requested'' shows on The Vault. CSC Media Group, formerly known as Chart Show Channels (CSC), was a British cable television broadcasting company. It was a subsidiary of Sony Pictures Television. The company dissolved on 27 November 2019. Background CSC Media Group was named after the now defunct UK music show ''The Chart Show'', which ran on ITV and Channel 4 for twelve years. CSC evolved from the original Chart Show production company Video Visuals, to Chart Show Channels, which was then acquired in 2007 by private equity group Veronis Suhler Stevenson. NME TV
NME TV was a British music television channel owned and operated by CSC Media Group (formerly Chart Show Channels), which carried the branding of the popular music publication ''NME'' under a brand licensing agreement. This was a similar arrangement to its radio station, NME Radio, which is operated by Town and Country Broadcasting. The channel replaced Minx on 22 November 2007. NME TV launched at 6.00am that day with "Up the Bracket" by The Libertines being the first video to be played on the channel. On 3 November 2010, NME TV was replaced with Scuzz on Freesat channel 503. On 1 February 2011, NME TV relaunched on Freesat on channel 516. NME TV closed on 5 January 2012 and was replaced with Chart Show TV +1, with "No Good (Start the Dance) "No Good (Start the Dance)" is a song by English electronic music group the Prodigy. Chart Show TV
Trace Hits (formerly Chart Show TV and Trace Urban) is a British free-to-air music channel owned by Trace Group. History Chart Show TV launched on 16 September 2002 and initially consisted of several different charts, mimicking the format of the television show upon which it was based. However, many of these were dropped and the channel started showing music videos. The channel broadcast in 4:3 from its launch but switched to 16:9 on 4 February 2008. All of CSC Media Group's other music channels have also switched to 16:9 broadcasting. A new website for Chart Show TV is also under development since its sister channels have had new websites launched. On 5 January 2012, Chart Show TV +1 launched, replacing NME TV. The temporary channel was replaced by BuzMuzik on 30 May 2012. Starz TV
Starz TV (formerly Fizz TV) was a British free-to-air music channel, owned by TRACE Group. History Fizz TV was launched on 24 January 2005 on Sky. The output of the station was music videos from a range of genres that were popular in the charts. The channel also had a heavy interactive texting element, through the viewers being able to send in text messages and pictures that were shown on screen. The parent company of Channel U and Fizz TV, Video Interactive Television, went into voluntary liquidation at the beginning of February 2009, before being purchased by Mushroom TV. When purchasing the two channels, Mushroom TV agreed that Channel U and Fizz TV should be rebranded. The two channels were rebranded as Channel AKA and Starz TV on 16 March 2009. True Entertainment was a former British free-to-air television channel that was launched on 3 August 2009, replacing Showcase TV. The change was originally scheduled to happen on 1 July 2009, but a late change put the change "on hold until further notice". Whilst the bulk of its programming were movies, similar to sister channels True Movies 1 and True Movies 2, the channel aimed to establish itself as a general entertainment channel. Its licence first appeared on the Ofcom website in January 2007 (initially named "Toon TV", this was changed to " AnimeCentral" in June 2007, to "True Entertainment" in June 2008, and to "Showcase TV" on 26 August 2008.
