''Butterflies in the Rain'' is a 1926 American silent film, silent romantic comedy film directed by Edward Sloman and starring Laura La Plante, James Kirkwood Sr., James Kirkwood and Dorothy Cumming.Munden p.730 The film is set in England and is based on a novel by the British writer Andrew Soutar. Synopsis Tina Carteret, the daughter of wealthy old English family, is attracted to feminist ideas about the freedom of the modern woman and mixed with a Bohemianism, bohemian set of friends. When she encounters the stuffy owner of the neighbouring estate John Humphries she at first ridicules him, but later finds herself falling in love. They marry but she continues to associate with her old bohemian set, leading to her being blackmailed while on holiday in Spain. Blackie Thompson (born Irvin Thompson; 1893 – December 6, 1934) was an American outlaw and murderer active primarily in Oklahoma and Texas. Early life and Osage Indian murders "Blackie" Thompson was born Irvin Thompson in either Arkansas or Oklahoma in 1893. In 1920, he was sentenced to five years for automobile theft, but was paroled in 1922. He was arrested again on December 22, 1923, for a bank robbery in Grady County. However, in 1924, he was released to serve as an informant in the Osage Indian murders. While Blackie did provide testimony against William King Hale and Ernest Burkhart, he quickly ran off and formed the "Thompson gang." Thompson gang, later life, and death Thompson went on to kill a police officer in Drumright, Oklahoma on July 2, 1924, after robbing the First State Bank of Avery.
