Burao
Burao, also spelt Bur'o or Bur'ao (; so, Burco, , ar, برعو) is the capital of the Togdheer region and the second largest city in Somaliland. Burao was also the third largest city of Somalia. Burao was the site of the declaration of an independent Somaliland on 18 May 1991. History 19th century The city originated as a well named Ceel-Gooni in the late 19th century used by nomads from the surrounding area. The town subsequently grew around the well. The settlement was later on burned to the ground by British forces in 1900, with the modern settlement being re-established in 1910. Burro Banton (born Donovan Spalding; 27 December 1956 in Kingston, Jamaica) is a dancehall reggae deejay popular in the mid-1980s and 1990s. He is most famous for his anthem "Boom Wah Dis", which was recorded on the Steely & Clevie riddim called "Street Sweeper". Burro emerged during the mid-1980s at the beginning of the digital dancehall craze started by King Jammy that also featured artists like Cutty Ranks. He is known for his very aggressive style; deep, gruff voice; and was the inspiration for many modern dancehall artists like Buju Banton, Bounty Killer, and Elephant Man. ''Burong isda'' (literally "pickled fish") is a Filipino dish consisting of cooked rice and raw filleted fish fermented with salt and '' angkak'' (red yeast rice) for around a week. The dish is common in central Luzon, most notably in the province of Pampanga. ''Angkak'' may also be omitted, especially in western central Luzon, resulting in a white-colored version. ''Burong isda'' variants are usually named after the fish they were made with; e.g. ''burong bangus'' for ''burong isda'' made with ''bangus'' (milkfish). Shrimp versions of the dish are known as ''burong hipon'' or '' balao-balao''. ''Burong mangga'' is a Filipino side dish made by mixing sugar, salt, and water to mangoes that have previously been salted.
