In 1975, the club incorporated and changed their name to Burlington Youth Soccer Club; soon after in 1979, they won their first Ontario Cup. The club has created an Embracing Ability program designed to make soccer accessible for all including players with intellectual and physical disabilities. After greatly expanding their adult program, they again renamed the club in 2019 to Burlington Soccer Club. League1 Ontario
League1 Ontario (L1O) is a semi-professional men's soccer league in Ontario, Canada. The league began play in 2014 and is sanctioned by the Canadian Soccer Association and the Ontario Soccer Association as a pro-am league in the Canadian soccer league system. As of the 2022 season, L1O includes 22 teams. Beginning in 2024, the league will become a three-tier league featuring promotion and relegation. In the Canadian soccer league system, the men's division is behind the Canadian Premier League (CPL). It is part of League1 Canada, the national third tier with regional division, with L1O equaivalent to the Première ligue de soccer du Québec (PLSQ) and League1 British Columbia (L1BC). 2022 League1 Ontario Season
The 2022 Men's League1 Ontario season was the eighth season of play for League1 Ontario, a Division 3 men's soccer league in the Canadian soccer pyramid and the highest level of soccer based in the Canadian province of Ontario. Vaughan Azzurri defeated Blue Devils FC in the final to win the league championship and qualified for the 2023 Canadian Championship. Guelph United F.C. represented the league in the 2022 Canadian Championship, as they were the 2021 league champions. Format and changes The league returned to a single table format for the 2022 season with each team playing 21 games, following the 2021 season which was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The regular season ran for 18 weeks between April 21 and August 21 (one postponed match was later played on August 27). Burlington is a city in the Regional Municipality of Halton at the northwestern end of Lake Ontario in Ontario, Canada. 1812 FC Barrie (also known as 1812 FC) was a Canadian semi-professional soccer club that played in League1 Ontario in 2021. In their sole season of operation, the club played home matches at Terry Fox Stadium in Brampton, Ontario. Romedi Llapi (born 31 January 2002) is a footballer who plays as a midfielder for Kategoria e Dytë club Labëria. Born in the United States and raised in Canada, he represented Albania at youth international level.
