Burke Mountain is a mountain located in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. The bulk of the mountain is in Burke and Kirby, Caledonia County, but its southeast side is in Essex County. It is flanked to the east and southeast by Umpire Mountain and Kirby Mountain, respectively. Burke Mountain stands within the watershed of the Passumpsic River. The northeast and northwest sides of Burke Mountain drain into Dish Mill Brook, thence into the East Branch of the Passumpsic River. Burke Canyon is the canyon of the Burke-Canyon Creek, which runs through the northernmost part of Shoshone County, Idaho, U.S., within the northeastern Silver Valley. A hotbed for mining in the late-nineteenth and twentieth centuries, Burke Canyon now contains several ghost towns and remnants of former communities along Idaho State Highway 4, which runs northeast through the narrow canyon to the Montana border. Burke Canyon takes its name from the town of Burke; settlers arrived in the canyon in 1884 after silver, lead, and zinc were found in mines throughout. Between 1886 and 1890, numerous mining communities developed in the canyon. Burke Lake Park
Burke Lake Park is a public park located in Fairfax Station, Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. It encompasses Burke Lake. The Fairfax County public park is owned by the Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA). It was built on land that was purchased by the federal government in the 1950s for an international airport, before the site of Dulles Airport was chosen as a replacement. Recreation The park offers many recreation facilities, including miniature golf, a carousel, a miniature train, an ice cream parlor, a fishing pier, campgrounds, and numerous playgrounds and picnic areas. Burke Lake is a freshwater reservoir in Fairfax Station, Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. It is contained within Burke Lake Park, a Fairfax County public park owned by the Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA). Burke Lake is formed by a dam on South Run, a tributary stream of the Potomac River. Fairfax County permits visitors to use the lake for fishing, electric-motor, and paddle/row boating. The lake has of fishing shoreline, three fishing bulkheads at the state game area, a fishing pier, a public marinapubliclaunch ramps, and a boat launching dock. Burke's Garden is an upland valley and unincorporated community in Tazewell County, Virginia. Geography and geology The oval, bowl-like valley (or "cove") is known for its fertile land and was once the bed of an ancient sea. About long and wide, it resembles a large volcanic crater in satellite photographs and on topographic maps; however, it was formed when underground limestone caverns collapsed.
