Francis Burdett
Sir Francis Burdett, 5th Baronet (25 January 1770 – 23 January 1844) was a British politician and Member of Parliament who gained notoriety as a proponent (in advance of the Chartists) of universal male suffrage, equal electoral districts, vote by ballot, and annual parliaments. His commitment to reform resulted in legal proceedings and brief confinement to the Tower of London. In his later years he appeared reconciled to the very limited provisions of the 1832 Reform Act. He was the godfather of Francisco Burdett O'Connor, one of the famed ''Libertadores'' of the Spanish American wars of independence. Family Sir Francis Burdett was the son of Francis Burdett and his wife Eleanor, daughter of William Jones of Ramsbury Manor, Wiltshire. Henry Burdett
Sir Henry Charles Burdett (18 March 1847 – 29 April 1920) was an English financier and philanthropist. Biography He was born at Broughton, Northamptonshire, the son of the Reverend Halford Burdett, a Leicestershire clergyman, and his wife Alsina. In 1863 he started his business career as a bank clerk in Birmingham, and was soon in charge of the local clearing at the Bank of England, where his business abilities became evident. In 1868 Burdett became secretary and general superintendent of the Queen's Hospital, Birmingham. In 1873 he enrolled there as a medical student, transferring later to Guy's Hospital, London. Later, between 1874 and 1880 he was secretary to the Dreadnought Seaman's Hospital. In 1880 he became secretary to the share and loan department of the London Stock Exchange and also a member of the committee of management of the Seamen's Hospital Society. Peter Perez Burdett (c. 1734 – 9 September 1793) was an 18th-century cartographer, surveyor, artist, and draughtsman originally from Eastwood in Essex where he inherited a small estate and chose the name ''Perez'' from the birth surname of his mather, his maternal grandfather was the clergyman there. He would have been notable just for his many appearances in Joseph Wright's pictures but he was also involved with numerous projects including surveying the route for one of the major projects of the industrial revolution, the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, in 1769. Alvecote Priory
Alvecote Priory is a ruined Benedictine Priory in Alvecote, Warwickshire, England. The site has been scheduled as an ancient monument. Now very little remains of the priory, most of the walls have been eroded but a fairly high wall remains on one side. The main entrance arch is the most impressive feature, still standing at around high. The attached dovecote also survives, however both the ruined priory and dovecot are on the Heritage at Risk Register due to vandalism and water damage. There have been three baronetcies created for persons with the surname Burdett, two in the Baronetage of England and one in the Baronetage of Ireland. As of 2008, two of the creations are extant while one is dormant. Burdett baronets, of Bramcote (1619) The Burdett Baronetcy, "of Bramcote in the County of Warwick" (Bramcote in the parish of Polesworth), was created in the Baronetage of England on 25 February 1619 for Thomas Burdett, Sheriff of Derbyshire from 1610 to 1611. He was a descendant of Robert Burdet, who had a grant of free warren in Seckington, Warwickshire in 1327. His son and heir Robert was born there in 1345. The manor then followed the descent of Bramcote in this family, until 1919, when the eighth Baronet sold the estate in lots.
