Buranda Station
Buranda is a neighbourhood in the southern Brisbane suburbs of Greenslopes and Woolloongabba in Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, Australia. The location is an important transport hub for southern Brisbane. Logan Road and Ipswich Road pass through the area as does the South East Busway with a station called Buranda busway station. The Pacific Motorway passes through the area. There is also the Buranda railway station on the Cleveland railway line. The Centro Buranda Shopping Centre is located at Buranda. Buranda Railway Station
Buranda railway station is located on the Cleveland line in Queensland, Australia. It is one of two stations serving the Brisbane suburb of Woolloongabba, the other being Park Road. West of the station, the line joins the Beenleigh line via a triangle junction. History Buranda station opened in 1889 as Logan Road, being renamed Buranda in 1917. On 15 July 1996, the Fisherman Islands line to the Port of Brisbane opened to the north of the station. In the early hours of 29 March 2009, the main station building on platform one was destroyed by fire. A 17-year-old man was later charged with one count of arson following the incident. Services Buranda is served by Cleveland line services from Shorncliffe, Northgate, Doomben and Bowen Hills to Cannon Hill, Manly and Cleveland. Buranda Busway Station
Buranda Busway Station is located in Brisbane, Australia serving the suburb of Buranda. It opened on 30 April 2001 when the South East Busway was extended from Woolloongabba to Eight Mile Plains. On 29 August 2011, Buranda became a junction station when the Eastern Busway was extended to Langlands Park. It is served by 12 routes operated by Brisbane Transport and Clarks Logan City Bus Service as part of the TransLink network. TransApex is a road transport plan devised by Brisbane Lord Mayor Campbell Newman in the early 2000s to connect existing motorways and major arterial roads with new transport links and divert cross-city traffic out of the Brisbane CBD. The plan is currently being delivered by Brisbane City Council at an estimated total cost of over $10 billion across five stages. Buranda State School
Buranda State School is a heritage-listed state school at 24 Cowley Street, Woolloongabba, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by Department of Public Works (Queensland) and built from 1920 to 1928. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 28 April 2017. History Buranda State School, established in 1918, is located in the suburb of Woolloongabba, approximately three kilometres southwest of the Brisbane CBD. It is important in demonstrating the evolution of state education and its associated architecture. Cleveland Railway Line, Brisbane
The Cleveland railway line is a suburban railway line extending east-southeast from Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland, Australia. It is part of the Queensland Rail City network. History Following the opening of the Wooloongabba Branch railway line from Corinda to Stanley Street in South Brisbane in 1884, calls were made for extending the line to Cleveland to serve the developing farming area. A line was surveyed, and took an indirect route to avoid hilly country and to serve Fort Lytton, a gun emplacement at the south entrance to the Brisbane River, then the major defence installation for the city. The Pacific Motorway is a motorway in Australia between Brisbane, Queensland, and Brunswick Heads, New South Wales, through the New South Wales–Queensland border at Tweed Heads. South East Busway
The South East Busway is a grade separated bus-only road running south from the Brisbane central business district to Eight Mile Plains in Queensland, Australia. The busway was completed to Woolloongabba in September 2000 and to Eight Mile Plains in April 2001. An extension of the busway to School Road at Rochedale was completed in 2014 with no additional busway stations. The maximum capacity of the busway is 18,000 commuters an hour during peak periods. The busway carries an estimated 70 million passengers annually. The busway allows services to branch off along any part to service nearby suburbs. Ipswich Road, Brisbane
Ipswich Road is major road in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The road has been an important transport route since the 19th century when it connected the towns of Brisbane and Ipswich. In the 1990s, the section from Moorooka in Brisbane to Riverview in Ipswich was replaced by the Ipswich Motorway. Logan Road, Pacific Motorway, and Beaudesert Road (Mount Lindesay Highway) are the other major roads in the south of Brisbane.
