Bunky Henry
George Walter "Bunky" Henry Jr. (February 8, 1944 – August 17, 2018) was an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour in the 1960s and 1970s. Early life Henry was born in Valdosta, Georgia, He attended Georgia Tech in Atlanta on a football scholarship, and also played on the Yellow Jackets' golf team. Professional career In 1967, Henry turned professional and played on the PGA Tour for 12 years. Henry's career year in professional golf was 1969, when he won the National Airlines Open Invitational, and had his two best finishes in majors: solo ninth at the U.S. Open and T-11 at the PGA Championship. Henry began play at age fifty on the Senior PGA Tour in 1994, and his best finish was a tie for third at the Boone Valley Classic in Missouri in 1996. Southern Amateur
The Southern Amateur is an amateur golf tournament. It has been played since 1902 and is organized by the Southern Golf Association. From 1902 to 1963, it was played at match play. Since 1964, it has been played at stroke play. In December 2021, the Southern Amateur joined with six other tournaments to form the Elite Amateur Golf Series. This is a list of the 1967 PGA Tour Qualifying School graduates. Tournament summary The tournament was played over 144 holes at the PGA National Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida in mid-October. The field of 111 was considered to have a number of "star" amateur golfers. These included Deane Beman, Bob Murphy, Ron Cerrudo, Marty Fleckman, and Bunky Henry. In addition, the field included Lee Elder, "whom many are predicting will be the first top-ranking Negro player." A number of notable international golfers played. These included the top three golfers from Britain: Tony Jacklin, Peter Townsend, and Clive Clark. Jacklin and Townsend earned playing privileges. Dave Stockton
David Knapp Stockton (born November 2, 1941) is an American retired professional golfer who has won tournaments on both the PGA Tour and the Champions Tour. Stockton was born in San Bernardino, California. He attended the University of Southern California and turned professional in 1964. His first PGA Tour win came at the 1967 Colonial National Invitation. He was selected by former Colonial champions as one of two Champion's Choice invitations; he is the only Champion's Choice invitee to win the Colonial in the year of the invitation. His best year was 1974, when he won three times, but his two majors, both of which were PGA Championships, came in 1970 and 1976. In 1970 he played the final round with Arnold Palmer, shooting a seventy-three which included an eagle and a double-bogey on the seventh and the eighth holes, and making a bogey on the thirteenth despite putting a ball in the water. Dan Sikes
Daniel David Sikes, Jr. (December 7, 1929 – December 20, 1987) was an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and Champions Tour. Sikes won nine tournaments as a pro, including six PGA Tour events. He was influential as the chairman of the tournament players committee in the late 1960s, prior to the formation of the PGA Tour. Early years Born in Wildwood, Florida, Sikes was raised in Jacksonville and attended Andrew Jackson High School.
