Bundesautobahn 485
is an autobahn in Germany. The A 485 is an eastern bypass of the town of Gießen. Between junctions 1 and 7, it is the eastern leg of the ''Gießener Ring''. The A 485 is one of two completed portions of an abandoned plan to extend the A 49 to Darmstadt. The other portion is the A 661 from junction 8 onwards. Junction 1 is split into three parts. Heading northbound, the first part that is encountered is a trumpet interchange with the B 3a freeway. The B 3a continues northbound, while A 485 traffic is required to exit the freeway to the right. After exiting, the A 485 continues on a shorter stretch of freeway, passing the ''Marburger Straße'' junction before ending at a trumpet with the A 480. Giessen, spelled Gießen in German (), is a town in the German state (''Bundesland'') of Hesse, capital of both the district of Giessen and the administrative region of Giessen. The population is approximately 90,000, with roughly 37,000 university students. The name comes from ''Giezzen'', as it was first referred to in 1197, which refers to the position of the town between several rivers, lakes and streams. Bundesautobahn 49
is a federal motorway running through north Hesse. It connects Kassel with the Schwalm-Eder-Kreis, where it ends in Neuental. The motorway is planned to be extended to Gemünden (Felda) with a connection to A 5. Course A 49 splits off from A 7 at Kreuz Kassel-Mitte and continues as a city motorway through Kassel to Baunatal over the river Fulda. It then continues through the communities of Edermünde, Gudensberg, Fritzlar, Wabern, Borken and Neuental in the Schwalm-Eder region. Along this stretch, there are motorway viaducts over the Ems, Eder and Schwalm rivers, the latter being bridged over twice. At its current end in Neuental, the A 49 flows into state road 3074. As this road is not designed to handle motorway traffic, the 8.5 kilometer-long stretch between Borken and Neuental is prohibited for heavy traffic. - also called ''Osttangente Frankfurt'' (easttangent Frankfurt) or ''Taunusschnellweg'' - is a 40 km (25 mi) long Autobahn in Germany. It starts in Oberursel and goes along Bad Homburg, Frankfurt am Main, Offenbach am Main and Neu-Isenburg until it is ending in Egelsbach. Today's A 661 was opened with the sections Bad Homburg (today junction 3) and Frankfurt-Bonames (formerly junction 5b). While the road's extension to Oberursel-Nord was easy to build, the construction to Frankfurt-Eckenheim got significantly delayed. There was an interim end between Bonames and Eschersheim near the ''Bonameser Platz''. After many years the extension to the ''Friedberger Landstraße'' followed. The section between Offenbach and Egelsbach was also already constructed, but at this time as a part of the A 49 which was planned as an Autobahn between Kassel and Darmstadt.
