Bulgaria In The Eurovision Song Contest 2011
Bulgaria participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the song "Na inat" written by Sebastian Arman, David Bronner, Poli Genova and Borislav Milanov. The song was performed by Poli Genova. The Bulgarian broadcaster Bulgarian National Television (BNT) organised the national final ''Bŭlgarskata pesen v „Evroviziya 2011”'' in order to select the Bulgarian entry for the 2011 contest in Düsseldorf, Germany. 19 entries were selected to participate in the national final, held on 23 February 2011, where "Na inat" performed by Poli Genova emerged as the winning entry following the combination of votes from a 55-member jury panel and a public televote. Bulgaria was drawn to compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 12 May 2011. Performing during the show in position 10, "Na inat" was not announced among the top 10 entries of the second semi-final and therefore did not qualify to compete in the final. Poli Genova
Poli Plamenova Genova ( bg, Поли Пламенова Генова; born 10 February 1987) is a Bulgarian singer, songwriter, actress, and television presenter. Genova began her career in 1991, at the age of four, as a member of the Bulgarian children's ensemble Bon-Bon. Genova later went on to represent Bulgaria in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the song "Na inat", which did not qualify for the final. She returned to Eurovision five years later in 2016, for the second time representing Bulgaria with the song "If Love Was a Crime". She brought Bulgaria to the final for the first time since 2007, placing fourth, which is Bulgaria's second highest placing ever, behind her successor Kristian Kostov's 2nd place the following year. Cornald Maas is a Dutch television presenter who has been known for presenting talk shows in the Netherlands. He is the brother of Frans Maas. TVR 1 (; spelled out as ''Televiziunea Română 1'', "Romanian Television 1") is the main channel of the Romanian public broadcaster TVR. Hotel FM
Hotel FM is a Romanian people, Romanian band, formed in April 2005 by United Kingdom, British expatriate David Bryan and his friends Gabriel Băruţa and Alex Szűz. The band held concerts in several cities in Romania and Germany and launched a promotional CD in spring 2006. Founding member Bryan, who is lead singer, is originally from Newton Aycliffe in North East England, where he worked as a binman before settling in Romania. The Hotel FM story began in 2005, when the Romanian composer Gabriel Băruţa recruited a few musicians from his hometown Oradea to create a new sound, a modern pop-rock feel based on melody and innovation, specific to the songs he wrote. Throughout the years, Hotel FM has comprised Nicolae Vedinaş (vocals, flute), Berek Szilard (vocals), Marius Pop (guitar), Vlady Săteanu (bass), Gabi Drăgan (drums) and Sanyi Zakar (guitar). Bulgaria In The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007
Bulgaria selected their Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007 entry by a national final, which was held on 29 September 2007. The winner was Bon-Bon with the song "Bonbolandiya" which represented Bulgaria in Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007 on 8 December 2007. Before Junior Eurovision National final The final took place on 29 September 2007 at the Hall 2 of the National Palace of Culture in Sofia, hosted by Doni, Katya and Tanya. Ten songs competed and the winner was determined by public televoting. Voting was open for 10 minutes, and at the conclusion of the voting, "Bonbolandiya" performed by Bon-Bon were the winners, receiving almost 25% of the public vote. Wickeda
Wickeda ( bg, Уикеда ) were a Bulgarian rock band. They were quite popular in Bulgaria, and occasionally topped the charts. Their style comprised punk, ska, reggae, funk and some traditional Bulgarian folk music elements. The witty lyrics filled with wordplay dealing mainly with stories from everyday life and the danceable tunes with memorable hooks largely contributed to the band's success. History Wickeda are one of the most well-known bands in Bulgaria.
