Buick Men
''Buick Men'' is the debut studio album by the American rock band Hagfish. It was released in 1993 on Dragon Street Records. Eight of the album's tracks would be re-recorded for the follow-up ''Rocks Your Lame Ass''. Critical reception ''Trouser Press'' wrote that the band "sets broad locker-room humor against cuddly (if raucous) power pop riffing. Since they’re as willing to mock themselves (see 'New Punk Rock Song') as the outside things they lampoon, it’s hard to hold the dopiness of, say, 'Lesbian Girl' against Hagfish." Hagfish (band)
Hagfish were an American rock band originated in Sherman, Texas that rose to notoriety via performances in the Deep Ellum district of Dallas, Texas, drawing influences from both punk rock and alternative rock. The lineup included lead vocalist George Stroud Reagan III, guitarist Zach Blair, bassist Doni Blair and drummer Tony Barsotti for the majority of the band's career, including nearly all of their recorded work. Formed by the Blair brothers in 1991, Hagfish emerged with contemporaries Tripping Daisy and Toadies as part of the 1990s Dallas/Fort Worth alternative rock scene and were also heavily influenced by the Descendents/All, whose members recorded and produced two of the band's studio albums. After officially disbanding in 2001, Hagfish have reunited occasionally for live performances. Dragon Street Records
Dragon Street Records is an independent record label, based out of Dallas, Texas. Founded in 1989 by David Dennard and Patrick Keel, longtime local musicians with over 25 combined years of music experience, Dragon Street's original goal was to develop regional rock bands into nationally viable recording artists, and, in general, promoting the Texas music scene. The first major bands to be released through Dragon Street were The Bat Mastersons, Hagfish, The Nixons, and Tripping Daisy. By 1995, major labels had come to dominate the alternative rock scene, and Dennard began refocusing the label on alternative country and rockabilly music, giving starts to artists including Ronnie Dawson, Killbilly, the Dixie Chicks, and Gene Summers. ''...Rocks Your Lame Ass'' is the second studio album by the American rock band Hagfish, released in June 1995 on London Records. The album was recorded and produced by Bill Stevenson and Stephen Egerton at The Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado in 1994. Backed by the singles "Stamp" and "Happiness", which also included music videos that were featured on MTV's ''120 Minutes'', ''Rocks Your Lame Ass'' would go on to become the group's most successful effort. The album rights were later acquired by UMG when they purchased London Records. ''Trouser Press'' was a rock and roll magazine started in New York in 1974 as a mimeographed fanzine by editor/publisher Ira Robbins, fellow fan of the Who Dave Schulps and Karen Rose under the name "Trans-Oceanic Trouser Press" (a reference to a song by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and an acronymic play on the British TV show ''Top of the Pops)''. Zach Blair
Zach Blair (born December 26, 1974) is an American musician, best known as the lead guitarist and backing vocalist for Chicago-based punk rock band Rise Against. Before joining Rise Against in early 2007, Blair was a member of melodic hardcore group Only Crime along with his brother, Doni Blair, who currently plays with the Toadies. The brothers were founding members of the bands Hagfish (band), Hagfish and Armstrong. Blair was also Flattus Maximus of GWAR from 1999 to 2002. He made a return to GWAR as Splattus Maximus on the 2013 album ''Battle Maximus''. Hagfish (band) Albums
Hagfish, of the class Myxini (also known as Hyperotreti) and order Myxiniformes , are eel-shaped jawless fish (occasionally called slime eels). Hagfish are the only known living animals that have a skull but no vertebral column, although they do have rudimentary vertebrae. Hagfish are marine predators and scavengers who can defend themselves against other larger predators by releasing copious amounts of slime from mucous glands in their skin. Although their exact relationship to the only other living group of jawless fish, the lampreys, was long the subject of controversy, genetic evidence suggests that hagfish and lampreys are more closely related to each other than to jawed vertebrates, thus forming the clade Cyclostomi.
