Bufuka
Bufuka Village lies on the eastern coast of Lake Bunyonyi, in Kigezi sub-region seven kilometres out of Kabale town, southwestern Uganda. It is a village of 350 people and has three islands under its jurisdiction. Being the closest place to the town, the area got the first tourist hotel already in the 1960s. Today the building is a ruin but there are five other operating tourist sites at Bufuka. The trading centre called Rutindo is the site of the bi-weekly market. The main part of the village is a peninsula where a Protestant church now lies. Bufuka Primary School was an outshoot of the church starting in 1938. Lake Bunyonyi
Lake Bunyonyi ("Place of many little birds") is in south-western Uganda between Kisoro and Kabale, and it is close to the border with Rwanda. The lake appeared from 2004 to 2009 on the USh note under the title "Lake Bunyonyi and terraces". Scientific literature generally quotes a maximum depth of , but some tourist guides and locals insist that it is much deeper, about , which would make it the second-deepest lake in Africa. Towns on its shores include Kyevu and Muko, while its 29 islands include Punishment Island and Bushara Island. Geography Lake Bunyonyi is a body of water in the Kabale District and about west of Kabale town. Kigezi Sub-region
Kigezi sub-region is a region in Western Uganda that consists of the following districts: * Kabale District * Kanungu District * Kisoro District * Rukungiri District The area covered by the above districts constituted the former Kigezi District.
