Buena Vista Winery
Buena Vista Winery is a winery located in Sonoma, California, United States. It is the second oldest winery in California after the D'Agostini Winery, which was founded a year prior in 1856. It was founded by Agoston Haraszthy in 1857. The winery is located on its original grounds, just east of Sonoma, California. History Buena Vista Winery was founded in 1857 by Agoston Haraszthy a Hungarian from Budapest. Haraszthy was unable to sustain the estate financially, and in 1863 financial support came by way of the Buena Vista Vinicultural Society; a group of financiers led by San Francisco banker William Ralston. Within two years of the society's founding, Buena Vista was producing two million gallons of wine a year. The success of the budding wine industry in California led to wine prices dropping dramatically as expenses rose. This is a list of Sonoma County Landmarks as designated by the Sonoma County, California, Sonoma County's Landmark Commission. Jean-Charles Boisset
Jean-Charles Boisset (born 1969) is a French vintner and the proprietor of the Boisset Collection, which operates 28 wineries in California, France, and Canada. Boisset comes from a viticultural family. His father and mother founded a winery in Burgundy, France, in 1961. When a young Boisset visited Buena Vista Winery, in California, with his sister and grandparents, the 11 year old Boisset shared with his family that he wanted to live in the United States one day. Boisset moved to California in the early nineties and purchased his first winery, Lyeth Estates and in 1999 he co-founded Domaine de la Vougeraie with his sister, Nathalie. Los Carneros AVA (also known as Carneros AVA) is an American Viticultural Area which includes parts of both Sonoma and Napa counties in California, U.S.A. It is located north of San Pablo Bay. The proximity to the cool fog and breezes from the bay makes the climate in Los Carneros cooler and more moderate than the wine regions farther north in Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley. Hacienda Wine Cellars
Hacienda Wine Cellars is a former winery once owned by Frank Bartholomew, that was located in Sonoma, California, United States. Hacienda was founded in 1973 after Bartholomew sold his ownership of Buena Vista Winery in 1968. After the sale, he retained the majority of his original vineyard land, and proceeded to acquire a former hospital located near the vineyard land and developed it into a winery. By 1977, it was operated by A. Crawford Cooley, producing 25,000 cases a year. JFJ Bronco purchased Hacienda by 1992, as well as Hacienda's sister label, Antares. Frank Bartholomew died in 1985.
