Buchanan (band)
Buchanan are an alternative rock band formed in late 2009. The band is the project of English-born Josh Simons in collaboration with friends. Buchanan announced their retirement in January 2019 on their tenth anniversary. Simons currently serves as CEO of ASX listed Jaxsta who acquired his music social-professional network Vampr in 2023. History 2009–2012: Early years and ''No Photo - EP'' Originating out of Melbourne, Australia, the band recorded their debut record ''The Safety Beach E.P.'' in April 2010. Featuring production by Tim Cross (former Mike Oldfield collaborator) the collection of demos was released on iTunes in May 2010. The band were shortly after invited to showcase for several record labels. Melbourne

Gypsy & The Cat were an indie/dream pop duo formed by former Melbourne DJs Xavier Bacash and Lionel Towers. History 2010-2011: ''Gilgamesh'' Gypsy & The Cat's first live performance was in 2010 in London, where they were based for much of that year. They released their debut album in November 2010, "Gilgamesh", played in UK and Australia, and have received significant airplay including on Triple J, Nova and Fox during 2011. Gypsy & The Cat were an Unearthed J Award nominee in 2010 and finished the year with three hit songs on the station's Top 100 for the Year, their highest being "Jona Vark" at 64. The duo were booked to play Coachella, but pulled out the last minute due to issues with their label, Sony Music. ''mX'' was an Australian free afternoon daily newspaper in the cities of Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, owned and produced by News Corp Australia. Targeted at commuters, its main channels of distribution were inner-city railway stations, tram and bus stops, and major CBD intersections. The last edition of ''mX'' was published on 12 June 2015. Beginnings The first ''mX'' was published in Melbourne on 6 February 2001, hoping to capitalise on the Metro format, popular in Europe. Sigur Rós
Sigur Rós () is an Icelandic post-rock band from Reykjavík, active since 1994. The band comprises singer and guitarist Jón Þór "Jónsi" Birgisson, bassist Georg Hólm, and keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson. Known for their ethereal sound, frontman Jónsi's falsetto vocals, and their use of bowed guitar, Sigur Rós incorporate classical and minimal aesthetic elements. Phoenix is a French pop rock band from Versailles, formed in 1995. ''Zoo'' was a British (and formerly an Australian and South African) Lad mag, lad's mag published weekly by Bauer Media Group in the United Kingdom. Wouter André "Wally" De Backer (born 21 May 1980), better known by his stage name Gotye ( ), is a Belgian-Australian multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter. The name "Gotye" is a pronunciation respelling of "Gauthier", the French cognate of his Dutch given name "Wouter". Gotye has released three studio albums independently and one album featuring remixes of tracks from his first two albums. He is a founding member of the Melbourne indie-pop trio The Basics, who have independently released four studio albums and numerous other titles since 2002. His voice has been compared to those of Peter Gabriel and Sting. Laneway Festival
The St. Jerome's Laneway Festival, commonly referred to as Laneway, began in Caledonian Lane, Melbourne, Australia, in 2005. Beginning as predominantly an indie music event, the festival grew in popularity and expanded to five Australian cities—Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Fremantle—as well as Auckland, New Zealand and Singapore. History 2005 St. Jerome's Laneway Festival had its roots in the "St. Jerome's Summer Series" each Sunday afternoon, created by Jerome Borazio and Danny Rogers and featuring new bands of the time, including The Presets and Architecture in Helsinki. They then included a monthly Saturday night called "Brains", which was actually a residency for musical act The Avalanches, and Borazio and Rogers eventually convinced The Avalanches that they could close the lane, remove the bins and stage a laneway party.
