Brčko
Brčko ( sr-cyrl, Брчко, ) is a city and the administrative seat of Brčko District, in northern Bosnia and Herzegovina. It lies on the banks of Sava river across from Croatia. As of 2013, it has a population of 39,893 inhabitants. De jure, the Brčko District belongs to both entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina (the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska) but in practice it is not governed by either; practically, Brčko is a self-governing free city. Name Its name is very likely linked to the '' Breuci'' (Greek Βρεῦκοι), a subtribe of Pannonian tribes of the Illyrians who migrated to the vicinity of today's Brčko from the territories of the Yamnaya culture in the 3rd millennium BC. Brčko District
Brčko District ( bs, Brčko Distrikt; hr, Brčko Distrikt; sr, Брчко Дистрикт, ), officially the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina ( bs, Brčko Distrikt Bosne i Hercegovine; hr, Brčko Distrikt Bosne i Hercegovine; ), is the self-governing administrative unit in north-eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina. Sava
The Sava (; , ; sr-cyr, Сава, hu, Száva) is a river in Central and Southeast Europe, a right-bank and the longest tributary of the Danube. It flows through Slovenia, Croatia and along its border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, and finally through Serbia, feeding into the Danube in its capital, Belgrade. International Supervisor For Brčko
The International Supervisor for Brčko is the representative of the international community in the Brčko District. As of 2021 all of the International Supervisors have been from the United States, while their principal deputies have been from European Union countries. Esed Kadrić
Esed Kadrić (born 10 September 1979 in Maoča, Brčko) is a Bosnian politician who is the mayor of Brčko since December 2020. Kadrić studied at the madrasa of Tuzla and graduated in political sciences at the University of Sarajevo in 2006, also obtaining a master's degree there in 2017. Kadrić was elected member of the Brčko District assembly for the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) in 2004 and 2008. From 2011–2012 he headed the Department of Education of the Brčko District government. He was appointed deputy mayor of Brčko from 2012–2016, and speaker of the Brčko District assembly from 2016–2020. In December 2020, Kadrić was elected by the assembly as mayor of Brčko District. Republika Srpska ( sr-Cyrl, Република Српска, lit=Serb Republic, also known as Republic of Srpska, ) is one of the two entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the other being the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with the Office of the High Representative (OHR) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, were created in 1995 immediately after the signing of the Dayton Agreement which ended the 1992–1995 Bosnian War. The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the two entities within the State of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the other being Republika Srpska. Gunja (Croatia)
Gunja ( hu, Gúnya, bs, Gunja) is a village and municipality in Croatia. In the 2011 census, the population was 3,732, with 60.13% declaring themselves Croats, 29.69% as Bosniaks, and 3.32% as Serbs. The village lies directly across the Sava river from the city of Brčko in Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the Bosnian War, many Muslim and Croat citizens of Brčko lived as refugees in Gunja. The village has a mosque, one of few in Croatia. The settlement was founded in the 18th century by settlers from eastern Bosnia.
