Brynford
Brynford ( cy, Brynffordd) is a village and community in Flintshire, Wales. It is located to the south west of the town of Holywell and near the A55 road (North Wales Expressway). Brynford had a population of 1,059 at the 2011 census. St Michael's Church (Church in Wales) dates from 1851 and is a Grade II listed building. The Cynfaen Memorial Methodist Chapel, serving Brynford, is in the nearby village of Calcoed. Two Bronze Age round barrows known as (Militia Patch) are located on Holywell Golf Club, about north-northwest of the church. Historically, the area was extensively mined for lead and has been left with the scars of that past all over its common land. The explorer and journalist Henry Morton Stanley was a student teacher in the old village school. The community includes the villages of Calcoed and Dolphin. St Michael's Church, also known as Brynford Parish Church, is a Grade II listed Church in Wales church in Brynford, Flintshire, northeast Wales, to the southwest of Holywell. The foundation stone was laid by the Bishop of St. Asaph on 6 October 1851, and it was consecrated on 12 July 1853. The architect was Thomas Henry Wyatt. Flintshire County Council
Flintshire County Council is the unitary local authority for the county of Flintshire, one of the principal areas of Wales. It is based at County Hall in Mold. Elections take place every five years. The last election was on 5 May 2022. History Flintshire County Council was first created in 1889 under the Local Government Act 1888, which established elected county councils to take over the administrative functions of the quarter sessions. That county council and the administrative county of Flintshire were abolished in 1974, when the area merged with neighbouring Denbighshire to become the new county of Clwyd. Delyn is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2019 by Rob Roberts, who was elected as a Conservative, but currently sits as an Independent following sexual harassment allegations. Holywell ( '','' cy, Treffynnon) is a market town and community in Flintshire, Wales. It lies to the west of the estuary of the River Dee. The community includes Greenfield. Etymology The name Holywell is literally ' + ' in reference to St Winefride's Well, which is situated in the town. Similarly, its Welsh name, ', is a compound of ' "town" + ' "well", meaning "town of hewell". History The market town of Holywell is known for St Winefride's Well, a holy well surrounded by a chapel, itself known since at least the Roman period. It has been a site of Christian pilgrimage since about 660, dedicated to Saint Winefride who, according to legend, was beheaded there by Caradog who attempted to attack her. A55 Road
The A55, also known as the North Wales Expressway ( cy, Gwibffordd Gogledd Cymru) is a major road in Wales and England, connecting Cheshire and north Wales. The vast majority of its length from Chester to Holyhead is a dual carriageway primary route, with the exception of the Britannia Bridge over the Menai Strait and several short sections where there are gaps in between the two carriageways. All junctions are grade separated apart from a roundabout east of Penmaenmawr and another nearby in Llanfairfechan. Initially, the road ran from Chester to Bangor. In 2001, it was extended across Anglesey to the ferry port of Holyhead parallel to the A5. North Wales () is an electoral region of the Senedd, consisting of nine constituencies. The region elects thirteen members, nine directly elected constituency members and four additional members. The electoral region was first used in the 1999 Welsh Assembly election, when the National Assembly for Wales was created.
