Brynmawr
Brynmawr (; , ,) is a market town, community and electoral ward in Blaenau Gwent, Wales. The town, sometimes cited as the highest town in Wales, is situated at above sea level at the head of the South Wales Valleys. It grew with the development of the coal mining and iron industries in the early 19th century. Until the reorganisation of local authorities in 1974, Brynmawr was administered as part of the county of Brecknockshire. Welsh language According to the 2011 Census, 6.0% of the ward's 5,530 (332 residents) resident-population can speak, read, and write Welsh. This is above the county's figure of 5.5% of 67,348 (3,705 residents) who can speak, read, and write Welsh. The town had the only Welsh-medium primary school, Ysgol Gymraeg Brynmawr, in Blaenau Gwent with 310 pupils ranging from nursery to year 6 until 2010, when the school re-located to a brand new, purpose-built building in Blaina. Bryn Mawr Elementary School
The Redlands Unified School District serves the cities of Redlands and Loma Linda, the unincorporated community of Mentone, the eastern half of Highland and a small section of San Bernardino in San Bernardino County. Total enrollment was 21,170 in 2009. The district has 16 elementary schools that serve kindergarten through fifth grade, with five middle schools serving grades six through eight. Bryn Mawr (horse)
Bryn Mawr (1901 – 1923) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse is best known for winning the 1904 Preakness Stakes. He was bred by Goughacres Stud in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, owned by B. F. Clyde and his brother William's son, Thomas C. Clyde. They would race him under their Goughacres Stable. Bryn Mawr was sired by Atheling and out of the mare Maggie Weir, a daughter of The Bard. Preakness Stakes The twenty-ninth running of the Preakness Stakes was run on Saturday, May 28, 1904. On that day Bryn Mawr went off as the heavy favorite at 3-2 in the field of ten after three colts scratched. In that race he broke poorly in seventh under a heavy hold by jockey Gene Hildebrand Eugene Hildebrand (August 16, 1887 - November 26, 1921) was an American National Champion jockey in Thoroughbred racing who won the 1904 Preakness Stakes and the 1905 Belmont Stakes, races that would become part of the U.S. Triple Crown series ....
